I'm wondering if anyone out there knows if the Nismo 555cc purple top fuel injectors are pintle-less or not? I know the newer style 95+ is but is the early style 90-94 pintle-less as well??
:gotme

Nope, they're the pintle old style. Nismo never made 555's in the new style, they're the yellow top 615's instead.

So BigTDogg what kind of reviews and how do the purple top 555cc perform?

The Nismo 555cc/min injectors are great. They work fine if your area has no ethanol in the fuel. Unfortunately, with the 10% ethanol virtually everywhere in the States, old style (pintle) injectors fail very quickly. If you're buying a set new, just get the 615 or 740 in the new style, and either get the 300° rails or do the lower plenum machining and 95+ style fuel rails.

If you're on a tight budget, the 555s would work fine for a while, but if you have ethanol in your fuel, they will fail significantly quicker than the new style.

Your right! That makes perfect sense I've been reading elsewhere that the purple top 555cc's have problems faster than getting new 615 injectors... I am on a tight budget so what I'm wondering is, would it be beneficial if I get the 555cc's and put higher octane gasoline without ethanol in it? For instance racing fuel 100+ octane does not have ethanol? I'm not 100% positive on that what do you think? I know high octane is very expensive like $6.00 for a gallon so I'm not sure if I'd wanna go that route? Anyways what's ur opinion?

Dueling personalities?

If you can find ethanol free gas near you, go for it. Even 91 or 93 without ethanol would be fine.

Otherwise, personally I'd just replace the dead injectors and wait until funds and time allows for a full upgrade.

Hahah yah.. that sentence didn't make sense.. alright well what I'm wondering is what if I upgraded the fuel injectors to a JECS 550cc fuel injector? I'd have to get an adapter kit for the fuel injectors but it would save me a little money? Would the 550cc's be a good injector to upgrade to from stock 370cc? What do you think?

Don't get Nismo 555cc, two burnt out in my 1990 300zx tt less than a year. Got JECS 550 cc from Fiveo for less than $500 with new pigtails. No problem so far.

Right but those 550cc's are straight drop in's and also they're old style pintle injectors.. that will also fail.. thanks but that's alright.
