Hey guys, its my first time posting. I'm going to pick up my 92 240 hatch this friday and im also considering ordering a motor from nippon motors. Has anyone dealt with nippon for sr20dets. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

P.s. I've been reading these forums for about a month and a half and i cant get enough!

I searched to no evail, and the reason I ask is I know they are a legitimate company because my roomate bought a Jspec engine for his dsm. I was curious to the specifics of the sr20det. I can buy the engine and transmission(which I'm assuming is just the bell housing) for 1000 plus shipping, but not to sure about the ecu and harness. Now I now someone who can install the sr into my 240 for 2300 with the stock side mount intercooler, but I was trying to save some bucks by doing it myself.

Okay, should I say screw nippon and go with afterdark or heavy throttle and pay 2000+ or should i peace the motor myself. My friend has done several swaps with civics and i am somewhat aware of all that is needed with the sr swap. Also, I have read all of the previous posts and none of them where all that informative regarding nippon that is. If anyone has any info, please post it.

Dude, you don't have to be a diak when you reply to my posts. I know you guys are the experts. Wouldnt you want to make sure everything on your swap was done correctly if you shelled out all that money. I have been reading these posts for I dont know how long now and I thought this was the place to go for true Nissan enthusiasts. I am starting to think twice.

it might be...but the same questions are asked by new people everyday...and you all say you search....if you go to http://www.google.com, and type in SR20det, you will get like 30pages of information..swap details, pics, everything you would ever need.

http://www.phase2motortrend.comhttp://s ... ds.comhave most of the details regaurding EVERYTHING you would ever need for the swap.....

ill answer your question though:

" screw nippon and go with afterdark or heavy throttle and pay 2000+ or should i peace the motor myself."

sure you can...but can you piece together all the parts? can u get an ignitor chip for a good price? ecu? wiring harness? people try it all the time, then ask the forums for parts 2 years later, when they are still 'piecing together parts for the swap'....its up to you, but i would make sure you can get everythng you will need first....usually its better to pay extra $$ and KNOW you are getting a complete motor, and wont be running into problems with cut harness, missing ignitor chips, dented oil pans, etc etc..

" can buy the engine and transmission(which I'm assuming is just the bell housing) for 1000 plus shipping"

thats amazingly cheap, and obviously not a complete motor, you will spend over 1500 imo trying to find the missing parts, if not more, and have one hell of a hard time....

"sr into my 240 for 2300 with the stock side mount intercooler,"

thats not amazingly cheap, i think you can do better....and u might wanna think about upgradeing that side mount to a front mount...side mounts are usually 300 or so, and arent really worth it imo...

"Has anyone dealt with nippon for sr20dets."

nope, not personally.

"place to go for true Nissan enthusiasts"

eh, sometimes : )

"I am starting to think twice"

its always good to think once, then rethink a second time : )

"Dude, you don't have to be a diak when you reply to my posts"

i know, guess i just am sometimes : P Ill work on that : )

you can always IM me at li240sxrep if you have specific questions, but for general questions, i would prefer you have some background, but your reading and researching, which is very good : )

Thank you for your reply. I just get frustrated sometimes when I search certain things. Yeah, it might pertains to my post but I guess I want to know everything about everything. One other question, you say 2300 isnt all that cheap. What do you think would be amazingly cheap. I live near Milwaukee, WI if that helps at all. Oh, and the stock intercooler would never be put in. I was just saying the stock intercooler for the sake of conversation to match that price with install. Just trying to mind all my P's and Q's. Late.

id just check the going rates of places like afterdark-tuning.com, HT.com, unstable, phase2, etc. and see what they are charging for install..

i was taking it as you were saying 2300 for just labor, not laborand motor, if so, then that is very cheap

I'm having a very hard decision on whether to have these guys who say they will install the motor for 2300 or do it myself with buying the motor from afterdark. Yeah, the satisfaction of me doing it myself would be awesome, but I dont know if the wiring headaches are worth it. If these guys are reputable, what questions would you ask yourself to determine where you stand on such an issue. I keep thinking it would be better to do it myself because I am a perfectionist, but its hard to argue with 2300 for the motor and install! Any ideas. Thanks for all the replies so far.

if you sent heavy throttle your old harness and sent them the new one they will make one that is plug and play with your motor. It is simple and ez! That is what I am going to do.
