To make a long story short, I had to get the rear crossmember on my Q replaced two months ago. Yesterday I went over a speed bump at 5mph and the crossmember mounts broke away. Well, I guess I'm glad it happened at 5 mph instead of 60mph because I probably wouldn't be typing right now. When the mechanic calls back he's going to have a lot of exlpaining to a person with little patience. Anybody know what could have happened?

What rear cross member? Do you mean the rear subframe? or some rear suspension arm

Members keep using the derogatory term "mechanic" maybe that's who [what] you chose to do the work?

It was the rear subframe, the technician said it was bad bushings, which should have been replaced to begin with.

P.S.I won't use the word "mechanic" anymore. I understand, Dennis. Sorry

A new subframe comes with new bushings but a junkyard one is an accident waiting to happen......not to mention the camber mount tabs will be bent from years of use.

A mechanic would have used an old subframe not a technican!

It was a salvage part, so should I be OK if they replace the bushings and the camber mount tabs aren't bent.
