Well one of the guys at my work bought a new Canon EOS Rebel 300D Digital SLR camera so I figured I would break it in for him lol. I have been wanting one of these myself and I wanted to see how it took pics in the night compared to my Kodak DC280 which is ancient now (btw my Kodak takes terrible night pics) before I bought one. Anyhow here is the results from the shoot and my Vue is dirty as heck so just disregard the dirty SUV in the pics lol.

Okay, first of, I just have to say Yech! A Saturn SUV that wants to be a performance car. The definition of poseur.

HOWEVER, before you get offended, realize that I don't mind the car, just the image it wants to portray. It's a great car, has a good powerplant (has a Honda engine doesn't it? I think I read that somewhere...) and is at least reasonably reliable. Plus it's cheap. It's actually pretty good looking, too, especially for a saturn. Beats the hell out of anything out of Toyota or Honda these days as far as looks. And actually, the more I look at your pics, the more I like the looks. A dirty SUV is always better looking that a clean one, unless it's an Escalade. Then clean is just as sexy. It just isn't what is appears to want to be, if you see what I mean.

I've never actually heard a report on handling and ride quality from anyone on a VUE Redline, though. What's it like? I'd expect it's a bit top-heavy, but all in all it looks pretty balanced and tight.Aslso, how's the offroad cababilities? I don't expect it has any, being so low and with the low profile rubber, but as I said, I've never heard anyone report on how they drive.

Yeah what is hilarious is that the Redline edition actually puts down slower times than the normal V6s from what people on the Saturn forums have mentioned cause the powerplant is exactly the same heh. The only thing different with the Redline was the different front and rear bumpers as well as the sideskirts. The suspension was also slightly altered to stiffer springs and it is dropped an inch from the standard Vues. However for a small SUV I think it is reasonably quick cause it supposedly puts down 1/4 times in the low to mid 15s from what I have read (I may test that out when the track opens again just to do it).

As for the ride quality it is not bad. It rides pretty comfortably and the suspension doesn't feel sloppy or anything. It is a little top heavy but not overwhelming (however I have never really driven any SUVs before this so I can't compare it to other ones). I wouldn't want to take it on an autocross course though lol.

And as for off-roading capabilities I would say nil. I haven't tested it but I think it even says it in the manual not to do serious offroading in it heh.

Heck, if BMW and Infiniti can get away with performance truckwagons, why not Saturn in a lower end of the market. I always wonder if the Vue is what the Olds Bravada would have been if Olds had continued to exist.

Nice camera!

Honda builds not only the engine for the Saturn Vue Redline but also the transmission. I remember reading it on GMinsidernews.com back when the vehicle was introduced.

uglu ugly ride. I don't mean to offend, but thats just what i see in it. I dont believe suv's have any purpose in life. If you travel alot, get a car. If you wanna haul things and tow, get a truck.

I'd say the Vue is one of the better looking small utes on the road. That and the Mazda Tribute.

I'd like to have something like that to commute in.

I would probably go the Scion xB route though, or wait it out for the Nissan Qube.

Ugh... the 95 Continental... the last year it used the head gasket-hungry 3.8 V6.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However I needed something reliable that is comfy to drive in to work everyday. I commute 25 minutes to work everyday and rack up a lot of miles so I don't want to use any of my other cars not to mention sitting in race seats all the time hurts the back.

As for not getting a car or truck. Having AWD is kind of a nice feature for me cause I work at night and when it snows and the interstates are not clear (it has happened to me on more than a few occasions amazingly) it helps and if I got a WRX or something along those lines which I seriously cosidered I knew I would start another project and I have too many of those as it is so I knew I wouldn't dump loads on money in an SUV.

A truck on the other hand eats too much gas and as much as I travel it wouldn't be feasable otherwise I would just buy a Lightning. The Vue gets 19 miles per gallon so it isn't too bad. I don't get much better than that with my Spec V.

Anyhow as many have already stated I am not worried about the build quality of the car. The powerplant is a Honda powerplant and it runs great. I have no complaints. The interior is a little cheap looking though (gotta love GM heh).

Anyhow thanks for the comments all

The Honda powertrain is the best thing they did for the Vue. It is way quiter and smoother than the Opel V6 it replaced. Plus it makes 50 more HP. Good move for Saturn.
