Hey guys,I just got a BlackBerry and expected to be able to stay in better touch with NICO, but it seems that it doesn't like NICO on either of the supplied browsers. What gives?Any fixes?Amd I just destined to not view the forum on a mobile device?

Use Opera's mobile browser. It works a TON better with NICO.

DAMN IT! Go figure that there isn't a version of Opera that has been developed for the Bold yet...

Weird. Reception perhaps? I've never had issues with mine in terms of that, but in the beltway you have to try hard to be non-3G.

NICO mobile is kinda dicey right now...

You could always try the BOLT broswer too, which works quite well.

http://www.crackberry.com -> good stuff.

We are rolling out significant upgrades over the next 30-60 days that should improve mobile users' experiences on NICO.

Speaking of BB...

let me guess, the new Tour?

I love my black berry. I have had the 8830 for more then a year and this thing is bullet proof. Never had any problems with it. I have used the Opera system to open Nico and its way better then the black berry browser.

No, not the phones. The phones them selves are pretty good (unless your track ball messes up). But the network has failed 3 times in a month (I checked, it was 3 not 2 times).

That isn't my idea of good times. They are apparently the #1 smart phone Co. and yet their service is

Nokia is actually the top smartphone brand worldwide. RIM and Apple are second and third.

That recent BB server outage pissed me off too.

Get Opera Mini, set it to mobile view and the smallest font. It will line everything up into a linear format to avoid side scrolling. Just slide the track ball to the right to scroll down quickly.

Screw that noise:

X86 processor. Real OS. Real browser. No Java s***. If I have to run a virtual machine on my real machine just for basic functionality, it can kiss my a**. Now let's see some phones with Tegra, dammit! Miniaturization has made huge leaps in the last year or so. The fact that 99% of "smart" phones still suck AND still cost a whole family's arms and legs is ridiculous. Gimme powerful or gimme cheap. I refuse to pay hundreds for a phone that can't even browse the effing web properly.

The Iphone was decent on NICO. Best in my opinion, but I haven't used the Droid yet.

I would assume it's pretty difficult to portray such an elaborate and detailed site as NICO on a 3" or so screen. Most of your time is spent scrolling side to side or w/e cause if you zoom out too much, you can't even read the print, lol.

Btw, what's your guys' opinions on new HTC phones? I've been hearing and seeing a lot of them lately.

I recommend using Opera Mini. It is java based. Speed is improved as it compresses everything on the server side once your request is sent.

I have no issue viewing any forums with this browser.

I also use Opera Mobile, but it's not as fast.

OK, dumb questions, since I'm not as tech-savvy as most of you...

I'm on a BB Storm... Considering a replacement, but I don't want to downgrade.

Driod looks interesting, but I'm not convinced.

What browser should I DL on my Storm for now that'll work better than what I have (and how)?

Try opera mini.

http://www.opera.com/mini/download/

Once installed go to settings and set the font to medium or small. Image quality to whatever you like, high is original quality. Then try mobile view. I personally don't like mobile view, but some people do.

I use my iTouch from time to time and don't have many complaints. Accessing any online page via a ~3" screen is going to be less than optimal, but I just won't carry a laptop/netbook with me at all times.

Posting from my mytouch right now. Just got it 3 days ago and I love it. The side to side thing can be annoying at times but its not all that bad.

I'm convinced that the BB is a horrible phone. The amount of calls that I get to the tech support dept by individuals who use it is like 10-1 to any other phone. Plus they're all under the impression that their phone is the best thing since sliced bread and never think that there are problems with it. They always think it's my fault that they're not able to get their emails. I tell them to go on cnn.com and read about the problems BB has been having this month.

I like my BB fine... there's a few things I'd prefer to see changed, such as a full real kb like the Droid has, but other than that, I'm a fan.

That's funny, cause I really dislike my Treo 755p and like my gf's Curve. The Treo has no navigation, slow internet, slow interface, no support.... it feels like the stupidest smartphone out there.
