Hello everyone! I just ran into this forum and it looks like a really cool Q45 forum. I have had my 1991 Q45 for just over 6 months now and have been loving it. I read through a couple of your other threads (the speed one was awesome) and figured this was the place for me.

I hope to learn more about my Q on this forum and get more mechanically minded. I do know some about auto-mechanics but not much. My Q is black in color with the gray inside.

I read the post about the timing chain guides; how can I tell if this has been done on my Q?

Thanks for the help, Kevin

Welcome to NICO, Woot!

Take a look at the RTV around your front cover. It was pale blue from the factory and up to 95-96 for repairs. If it's another color, the cover has been off - but no assurances it was to fix the guides. The only sure way is to take the cover off and look for yourself.

I like your part of the country, BTW.

Yep, Utah is a NICE place to live. It ranges from desert to green mountain forests. St. George is right on the Nevada Utah border so it is in the more desert part of Utah.

I'll have to pull my car into the Garage and check and see if the guides have been done.

Nice choice on the color. Same scheme as mine.

I'll have to get some pictures as soon as it stops raining and I get it all waxed. I was thinking of putting some 06 G35 wheels on it, the ones that are kind of a nickel color. Do you think they would look OK on a Q45?

From what I've seen, it all depends on what sort of look you want to go for.

The luxury look requires at least an 8 spoke wheel. Preferably somthing full or half faced. I find that Mesh wheels look best. BBS or HP EVO's look great. That's just my opinion though. I want something in chrome or at least hyper silver. But I've been toying with the idea of a black wheel with the chrome lip. It might look really nice. Especially with the chrome around the windows.

I don't know what the 06 G35 wheels look like.

I was going to ask you guys; I have had my Q for 6 months and recently it has been quite cold. A few days ago than I let it warm up for about 1 minute and than backed out of the driveway and than when I put it into drive than the thing killed. It did it to me again this morning, what is causing it to do this? Is there something I can do to make it stop it?

It stalled out because of the cold? My Grand Cherokee used to do that.

I have no idea why that would happen. Can you put the Q in the garage? That might be better than the continous cold starts in the morning.

Welcome!

I agree, I like the HP Evo's as well. I've seen one Q with them but the tires were to small for it. I'd also like to see what the staggered set looks like with the right size tires.

Yeah, that is what I am thinking. It never did it in the summer. I will have to arrange to park it in the garage in the winter

Regarding wheel choice... I think the best bet going in a modern Infiniti wheel is the 18" FX35.

What are those wheels off of? They're slick.

18" FX35 Wheels. I love the look.... I have someone else's pic saved on my computer, but I couldn't find the thread. Black 90-93 with a spoiler, dark tint, and those wheels infront of a church with a cobblestone driveway. Maybe I'll stop being lazy and actually upload them.

An intense amount of jealousy and envy is emanating from my pores.

That is beautiful. Wow. Looks like inspiration. Thanks for the pics Heath. I won't give up on the car now. I've come too far.
