Sprint seems to keep up well with the market on the Android phones, Verizon on the other hand always seems to be behind on HTC devices at least. I mean the TB is basically the EVO repackaged for Verizon, which is a phone that's been out for nearly a year now. I'm very pleased with my Sprint service though, i'm holding out for the EVO 2 personally though. Right now none of the dual core phones are fast enough anyways for me to justify upgrading.

He's on Verizon and the EVO 3D is a joke, I wish this 3D fad would hurry up and die. DO NOT WANT.

You will ALWAYS be able to type faster on a physical keyboard than on a piece of glass. I don't care what any one thinks; every one who loves touchscreen keyboards are compromising.

I used to text with out even looking at my keyboard on my phone because I had physical "landmarks".

/rant
i text on my device without looking, with one hand faster than you can with 2 hands looking at your physical keyboard.

its called swype. read a tech blog every once in a while and get with the times :gapteeth:

Nah, I just like seeing what is supposed to be on the screen (web page/previous text messages/whatever). Also, I'm not buying being able to text with swype without looking. Maybe one word, but whole sentences/texts? Doubtful. I'd bet it comes our garbled.

I will agree with this too, it's fairly accurate but I don't trust it that much. Although the only phone i've ever owned that I didn't have to look at what I was typing was my Blackberry and my Motorola Razr.

Then again, I clearly can't type accurately with a full keyboard, so who knows?

Agreed, Sprint is popular in major metro areas. In DC we have excellent data and voice coverage. Most of the phones out there are alternately named with the same technology. Which for non-iPhone users is great because updates for specific software are typically available OTA and not through a somethingtunes store setup. Samsungs touch interface is typically well received by converts, whereas HTCs boot time and 4g radio are amazing. Hell my old ladies evo is faster than my laptop

I cannot wait to see a 3d phone...not use just see. I agree having a dedicated GPU and 2x1GHz processors would be win in a phone I can only imagine even a 1600 mAh battery would be quickly depleted.

I personally don't mind using a device as it is designed. That is why I am going to be hard pressed to retire my much loved blackberry. But I really want a faster internet connection, and Google Talk has expanded my instant chat options beyond anything BBM has to offer. Except for the ability to see if the contact has received my message.

I have large fingers, your mom knows about them, Gerry!

And that means a touch screen is right out. Until they make the holographic touchscreen that projects into the air a few inches, physical is always going to be superior. It also doesn't screw up when the screen gets dirty from seat, etc, and it won't affect anything when it gets a scratch on where a key is located either.

A touch screen is a poor interface because it lacks reliability and is delicate. And until they make a new substance that is clear and can withstand the abuse, it always will be.

All this talk about battery life with Android phones makes me laugh. Root your Android and rejoice at the spoils of your labor. My battery life easily tripled under light use going from the stock Android 2.2 to CyanogenMod7. Stock Android is fine but the custom ROMs are getting to be so stable it's worthwhile to change. Since you're deaf you'll probably want something with a keyboard for better typing but onscreen keyboards are getting much better everyday.

Wow hadnt checked in on this one for a few...

On the keyboard VS touchscreen rant: Texting by touch on a physical while driving is great and all, I used to do the same. But now I just speak to my touchscreen and it types for me. Not really sure why it taking up 40% of the screen is a big deal while you're typing. Unless you are writing a book it is plenty of room to still see what you have typed (for me on the Thunderbolt at least, Im sure other phones are terrible). As for poor and delicate interface, get a screen protector and the usual Asurion or Black Tie insurance, done.

Completely personal preference. OP, I suggest you diligently test both to find what you like best.

^yeah I forgot to mention the speech to text options, which are great. Vlingo is the best one I've found thus far, although I quit using it, since I don't text while driving.

The OP already mentioned that he didn't care for a physical keyboard as well ;)

On normal Android phones, if you have more than one contact for a person in the phone, it typically makes a new entry, but with HTC it automatically links them together for you too. That's just a few things, but HTC literally thought of everything with their interface, I wouldn't have any other Android phone after owning one.
This is not a feature of HTC phones. This is a feature of their "Sense UI" that they put on some of their phones.

I used it once to get all my facebook contacts synced into my gmail contacts. Once that was complete I wiped that crap out and put CM7 on it. Sense is so freaking slow!

To everyone using task killer. STOP! It actually uses more battery then it saves.

Let Android manage the applications. It'll do just fine.

I said their Android phones, which every Android phone that is HTC branded on the market now, has Sense UI to my knowledge.

Sense isn't slow at all on my EVO, it runs better performance wise than most ROMs i've tried, now I do run a rooted version of the stock Sense UI but that's it right now. I ran CM7 for a couple of weeks and it's not bad, but it's too buggy and stripped back on the EVO for my liking. Kings Gingerbread is BY FAR better, if you want a stock Android ROM, the quadrant scores are a ton better and it's a lot less buggy. I still hate stock Android with a passion though, it's utterly useless IMHO, unless you mod the heck out of it.

Alright, a rooted Sense rom is a different story. When it's fully optimized it runs nicely. Not like a AOSP, but still not as bad as a stock Sense rom.

Agreed, a completely stock Sense phone can be a bit laggy once you load it up with apps and ect. AOSP can be lightning fast, which is very nice, but I just never have been able to make myself happy with it, I always end up switching back within a couple of weeks at maximum. If I would've stayed with the Samsung I had though, I would've been running a AOSP ROM with no questions asked. Touchwiz sucks.
