are you using the gated shifter, IE holding it in 1st until 7300 RPM...... You cant just floor it and expect it to go to 7300... Did you get the switcher setup, redman?

maybe you have bad KS?

Drop it to 1st gear and don't shift to 2nd until you get to around 7300. If you run in drive or even 3rd it will still shift at the same rpm as before.

Added:Oops, didn't see page #2 when I replied. Ditto what Wes said. hehe

94-95 will be available very soon...

I had a batch of boards made that turned out to be wrong, so I had to order another batch. There goes $200

The later ECUs use a totally different processor and code base than the earlier ones, so I have to port over all my changes and then run it in my car for a week or so to make sure they all work right.

I'll make a formal announcement through Wes as soon as I'm satisfied that it is working right.

Robert, you think there will be any advantages to using the '94 ECU vs. the '93 I already have in my '94 Q or will it achieve exactly the same results?

Also, I'm still working towards turbo charging my Q. Will the ECU you programmed for me handle 5 psi boost as-is or would you recommend reprogramming?

let me drive your car Redmanfx....I will show you how the rev limiter works at 7,300rpms real easy. As other said...leave in 1st or 2nd and then hammer throttle until the rpms don't move up anymore....should be at 7,300rpms. I have rode my 7,300rpm rev limiter for a full "one-one-thousand" many times although I try not to do it.

Also for all of you all out there waiting for the 94~95 programing...I am running a 92 TCS ECU modified by Robert in my 1995 car. I have no problems and everything seems to be working just fine. Also I would highly suggest you opt for the 8 way progamable ECU for the extra $30 bucks or so. I have a valet mode, stock, JWT, and Robert's MadMax special. It is fun putting the car into valet mode and watching the car rpms stop right at 3,000rpms and also you can't get the speed past 60mph either.

That programmable one would be sweet! I didn't get offered that one. Robert, how much to send mine back and get that added?

Hey Robert, where do I get to find out more infomation on your ECU? I seem to be reading the end of a story here but can't find the beging. What are they all about and how much does it cost. I have a JDM '90 Q45A. Maybe you could send a pic and lets know how to install it?Thanx

Aussie - I have sold the chip separate to a few people but generally I don't like to do it because it involves some fairly involved soldering skills.

Do you know an electronic technician or good stereo repair shop? If so, I can supply the chip for you to have it installed.

As for the switcher chip, I didn't have it worked out when I did the first 10 or so ECUs. I have two or three left, so email me if you're interested.

As for running the 94 vs. 90-93 ECU, I don't think it will make a difference. One thing that MIGHT be different is the way the air conditioning cooling fans are controlled by the ECU.

OK, my NICO ECU works just fine! Did some testing and Yeah,... it's working just fine. Works just like it should.......

PS. Redman is going to FL to pick up some seats and will be in Fort Lauderdale sometime this month. May even be staying with an uncle in Boynton Beach FL. for a few days. Nothing is worked out yet, but I'll be in FL. somethime this month.

You bet. I've decided to take the Q down and race at the track with you. We'll see what my old "not finished" being restored Q can do. I still haven't heard from the seat guy yet. I paid and now nothing so far. I'll be down regardless. I'll call to let you know when.

Thought I'd check in after about 1,500 miles on Roberts ECU.I have a '94 with TCS using an ECU from a late '92 with TCS.He tuned it for California 91... and the ECU is great! I haven'tmeasured performance improvement, but it sure pulls harderand sooner when you wind it out.

When I finally went through a tankfull without punching it repeatedly, and got about 19 MPG on my normal drive, possibly a fraction better than with the OEM ECU! TCS and allelse still works too.

I also had the same experience as GQ Jay... on hot start my enginewould sometimes oscillate at first. This no longer happens :-). [why?]

There appears to be no downside to the ECU, just more POWER! This ECU is the best single performance mod.

Thanks again Robert, amazing job!
