Maybe you should be more specific for him. Or not-may ruin his day!maxnix wrote: once you have spent the $3K or so to restore it.

WISE decision! If your total budget is $6,000 and you dont want to put extra money/time into a car, a old Q or any other old car is not for you.I would look for the newest, low mile Civic/Corolla/Sentra you can get for your $6,000 and drive off into the sunset with way less time/Money needed to keep it going.EuroSam wrote:you officially changed my mind about buying the Q... lol I've had bmw's that have not needed so much work done to "restore" them... hell 100k is just breaking it in. and screw paying a total of 6k to have a 20 yr old car with 130k that will practically blow up if you dont spend the extra 3k.
I need a car not a restoration project.
Then stay out of the imported luxury V8 market if $3K a year is scary to you!EuroSam wrote:

How do it know?unknown007 wrote:he's right wes email don't work?
NOT an insult, just facts based on his budget and willingness to spend time/$ on keeping an old car on the road.unknown007 wrote:^^^ Huh?
Hey also remember a lot of people here tend to try and help but instead push you away from the car. They maybe scare you about this and that and really you should but not as bad as they say it'll be.They expect you to replace everything which I'd only say injectors, valve cover gaskets, belts, and spark plugs.Other than that replace any other broken hose.My car was fine until the coolant hose broke. So I mean don't let people push you away your money you decision remember that good luck.Don't go for a sentra or civic they are basically insulting you by saying that.
Unaddressed guides can be fatal if the parts break off, which is almost a given.EuroSam wrote:How serious are the chain guides and does anyone else on here drive a 90-93 that havent had them changed/checked?
Exactly! Factor in $1,250 for parts if you can do the labor.Rex wrote:
IMHO, a 90-93 Q without documented proof the guides has been replaced should be purchased at a "non-running" price.
Yea I said the same thing........I figure I will have at least 10k in my car.......I paid 40k for one new in 1990.........so I figure I am 30 k ahead of the game....It still a very fast comfortable sleeper!Quit whinning and git er done!EuroSam wrote:Hey, I'm gunna be a 1991 Q45 owner starting tomorrow and I was just wondering where I can buy the NICO ECU tune and California Customs lowering springs (or any other brands). I can't seem to find ANY lowering springs ANYWHERE online. Same for the ECU, I heard they were between 100 and 250$ and the only one I found was Jim wolf for over 500$ which is an insane price.
I would really appreciate the help!
EVERY car requires some sort of maintenance. Some require more but give you more!EuroSam wrote:you officially changed my mind about buying the Q... lol I've had bmw's that have not needed so much work done to "restore" them... hell 100k is just breaking it in. and screw paying a total of 6k to have a 20 yr old car with 130k that will practically blow up if you dont spend the extra 3k.
