Hey, I'm gunna be a 1991 Q45 owner starting tomorrow and I was just wondering where I can buy the NICO ECU tune and California Customs lowering springs (or any other brands). I can't seem to find ANY lowering springs ANYWHERE online. Same for the ECU, I heard they were between 100 and 250$ and the only one I found was Jim wolf for over 500$ which is an insane price.

I would really appreciate the help!

Is he a NICO member (The supposed previous owner)?

Does he have documented proof?

Ask if you can record his voice as proof if he has no documented proof, SO you can use that against him in court when your car goes boom.

Is there anything else wrong with the car?

Look in the classified section/forum. Cali's are no longer able to get. Someone here may have a set. I have them they are nice. As far as ecu talk to Wes. I'm running a JWT.

Car is perfect inside and out except a little wear in the drivers seat. I just hope the old guy knows what he is talking about cause he most likely is not a member of NICO. I will be the second owner of the car with 133k on the odom.

How extreme of a problem are those chain guides? If they haven't been removed and the car has lasted 18 yrs already... you think it will blow up within another two years of driving?

Wes is all over the boards. [email protected] Offer him a six pack and a pizza, and he'll do just about anything. I think you need more posts to post in classified.Do a search on it. Get all paper work. Who serviced it for him? You can even have the vin run at your local dealer. Assuming he did dealer service.

Audiovisionary33 has Espelir springs for the G50 once you have spent the $3K or so to restore it.

Maybe you should be more specific for him. Or not-may ruin his day!

Simple read and follow this: http://spreadsheets.google.com...TGpWQ

But the big chunk of the $3000 is make sure ALL fluids and filters are good and making sure ALL the rubber on the car is in at least OK shape if not great.

you officially changed my mind about buying the Q... lol I've had bmw's that have not needed so much work done to "restore" them... hell 100k is just breaking it in. and screw paying a total of 6k to have a 20 yr old car with 130k that will practically blow up if you dont spend the extra 3k.

I need a car not a restoration project.

Sorry to scare you away but most people say to restore them so you can feel what it was like to drive this car when it was new.

But I think you have had great luck with BMW's and may have gotten lucky because to restore them can be as expensive if not more than restoring a Q.

Either way I hope you make the right decsion and don't get scared away by a couple of posts.

Theses care can be simple to maintain if you follow that schedule I posted, because preventative maintenance is the best and cheapest maintenance.

WISE decision! If your total budget is $6,000 and you dont want to put extra money/time into a car, a old Q or any other old car is not for you.I would look for the newest, low mile Civic/Corolla/Sentra you can get for your $6,000 and drive off into the sunset with way less time/Money needed to keep it going.

Then stay out of the imported luxury V8 market if $3K a year is scary to you!

^^^ Huh?

Hey also remember a lot of people here tend to try and help but instead push you away from the car. They maybe scare you about this and that and really you should but not as bad as they say it'll be.They expect you to replace everything which I'd only say injectors, valve cover gaskets, belts, and spark plugs.Other than that replace any other broken hose.My car was fine until the coolant hose broke. So I mean don't let people push you away your money you decision remember that good luck.Don't go for a sentra or civic they are basically insulting you by saying that.

NOT an insult, just facts based on his budget and willingness to spend time/$ on keeping an old car on the road.

How many days in your short Q ownership has your car been off the road for some type of repair? He is looking for a "gas-N-go" type experience, not a work in progress.

I don't mind maintaining a car, I can handle 3k PER YEAR.... but not the extra 2k to get the timing chain guide fixed. I found out that the guy had not had it replaced, and never knew about such a problem... and I love cars... why would I want to drive a civic or a sentra? lol I would be laughed at by my friends (as I would laugh at them) if I got a damn civic. I can buy a car and "restore" it (general maintenance wise) But I CANT buy this car and then have to spend 2k imediatly to fix the chain guides...

How serious are the chain guides and does anyone else on here drive a 90-93 that havent had them changed/checked?

I have computer history on the repairs and mainteances of multi hundreds of Q45. Some dating back to 1995 [hard copies] with computerization starting in 1998. We know exactly the quanity of the individual parts we purchase from Infiniti dealers to repair other's cars.

FACTS are Facts which the average owner doesn't have a clue about focusing only on their vehicle.

The bulk of old Q45 in US are wrecks rolling on tires, each with dozens of defects that owners ignore due to cost or lack of information.

I usually takes 1-2 years of ownership before people begin to understand.

Why so many Q45 have 2,3,4,5 previous owners.

Unaddressed guides can be fatal if the parts break off, which is almost a given.

There's a thread about a 90's Q w/38k that had the guides done by T3 and they were broken, but had not fallen down yet. There's also threads about people replacing their guides at >150k and they were just cracked. It's a crap shoot every time you start the car until you know they've been replaced.

IMHO, a 90-93 Q without documented proof the guides has been replaced should be purchased at a "non-running" price.

Exactly! Factor in $1,250 for parts if you can do the labor.

Many threads in IOM. Once you drive it after it is restored, you won't want it to end.

If time is precious, look for a 1994-1995 in great shape. Few are out there, but patience rewards.

EVERY car requires some sort of maintenance. Some require more but give you more!

HALF THE FUN IS FIXING AND TUNING THE CAR YOU LOVE!!!!

I bought my 2nd Q45 @ 153k miles just over a year ago and put exactly 40,000 miles on it ever since. (gas prices were high)

I have spent a pretty penny on maintenance OVER THE TERM OF A YEAR...

My friend used to hate on why I bought an OLD CAR.... always!------One day me and my friends were drunk, had to drive home... I decided to let HIM DRIVE.... He always used to say my car sucked and old......

He sat in......... within SECONDS he was !!!!BLOWN AWAY!!!! and he didn't even start the car yet!

Now what car does he and his girlfriend admire the most? My baby... the Q-4-5 INFINIT

If you don't get this vehicle YOUR LOSS.

Sorry for the long post.

But I am in a delimma... I do want a new car, and the two I have looked at so far is a nearly brand new 2007 BMW 530i and a 2004 Mercedes Benz S500.

The S500 is loaded and has damn nice torque. The 530i is a great drivers car but both of these vehicles just SUCK. The S500 has 24" rims that fit so fluidly with the look and rides comfortable.

Driving both cars just does not compare to the Q45 G50. I still may buy the S500, great price... and it does get better freeway mileage.
