Nico needs an Android app. There's Facebook, twitter and all the other dumb sh*t. An Android app would be awesome!

This has been discussed before, but the short is it's not gonna happen anytime soon. I'm posting this from my phone right now and I can navigate the entire site just fine without it.

Apps like Facebook and Twitter aren't cheap to develop either.

The site is easily navigable using the browser but so is fbook and many others. I just thought it would be cool if there was a nico app but I certainly understand how costly it is to produce these apps. It would just be nice to have such a direct and convenient way to get on and check/post topics. I am also using my phone at the moment.

How about you pay them to make this app you want so bad?

Have you any idea how labor-intensive making one of these is?

It is pretty nice to use the simpler version than the actual site, but ish is just too expensive. Care to donate?

This too.

I want to smack Verizon for branding their Android phones as "Droid". It confuses people.

Please re-read my statement above your post sir. I said and I'll repeat I understand how costly they are meaning I know that its expensive and does require extensive labor I.E. costly.

It would just be cool if there was an app for it. Most apps seem to be a simplified page that makes browsing and navigating on the smaller screen (Im screwed without a mouse) easier and faster. I said droid app because I have a droid and it never occured to me to include the many other Android phones (Oops, sry guys).

Sorry bout that.

I've heard so many people insist that all Android phones are Droids... it kind of gets on my nerves now.

look into tapatalk or forum runner, both offer mod support and allow users to upload attachments, but still give users the the freedom of a much lighter forum, allowing the threads and sub sections to load faster without all the excess fluff and ads that bog down smartphones. Both can be found on the android market and the itunes market, not sure if its on the BB equivalent. Forum runner seems to be the improved variant, but Tapatalk is tried and been out for longer. Both claim to be admin implented in 5 minutes, whether that is true or not I dont know.

:werd: I'd like to hear Andy Rubin's opinion on what they truly should be referred to as ;)

This was what the last discussion was based on(Tapatalk), again in short, Greg had many good reasons why he has no interest in using Tapatalk or similar, aside from the obvious security issues. Do I have anything against a mobile app or Tapatalk? Not at all... I don't mind using mobile apps and have used a couple of Tapatalk based apps before as well. I'm quite sure if any of the above ever becomes a viable and secure option, it or something similar will be put in place.

I have no issues at all with load times on Nico, whether i'm on 3G or Wifi, and can navigate through the forums just fine. Dolphin HD browser handles it all very well on Android, or if you want really fast, download Opera Mini(which is available on all smartphones).

YES THAT WAS THE JOKE.

DROID IS A SPECIFIC PHONE.

ANDROID IS AN OPERATING SYSTEM.

Why is this so hard for people to understand? People these days watch way too many commercials

I have to say, the very latest version of Opera Mini is fantastic for viewing forums. Renders tables quickly and scrolls through threads like Lindsay Lohan over a line of coke.

I gave Dolphin Mini a try yesterday and was expecting Opera Mini like performance, I was highly disappointed. I use Dolphin HD for my primary browser on my phone, even though it has a nice tabbed browsing setup along with plug-ins, you end up paying the price for the features with it's performance sometimes. I may give Opera a shot again though, i've always been a big fan of their mobile browsers.

Firefox Mobile also failed horribly when I gave it a try, slow and I couldn't even log-in on the forums, I think Mozilla needs to stick to PC Browsers for now :slap:

I love it... except for the fact that in the new version I have to manually hide the navigation bar every time I open it.

I was actually searching for that old thread when I came across this one.

we really need to revisit this idea. every wireless carrier now has tiered data plans. This means that we need to watch what we are doing and cut down on our data usage.

currently I am using opera mini to compress everything. It gets the job done. It is not optimal and has a lot of rendering flaws.

Tapatalk would be a great thing to have.

Greg previously mentioned that the forum size would not permit the secure usage of such an app. Take note that the howardforums has an application and they have over one million members.

I'm on a cheap unlimited plan that just throttles if I exceed 2GB.

I don't do much beyond Youtube and forums, so I think I'm safe. I seem to stay well under 200MB a month.

I did notice, however, that General Chat doesnt load in Opera Mini anymore. :(
