As I look back over the threads from the past few days, I have to ask.......

What in the world is going on with this place. First some people makes lude comments toward members of the opposite sex. Then we have people bashing the kid that got his car hooked up on Pimp my ride, now a thread about birth control. There are locked threads everywhaere.

Listen people, you need to start acting like you have some sense. Act like your parents taught you some manners. This place is starting to get stupid. All you knuckle heads just shut up. Quit stirring up trouble. Now I liked looking at the young ladies, but it is gone. Our moderators felt it best for the community as a whole, and did what the thought was in NICO's best intrest.

We have the best web site, the best moderators, the best site owner, and up until a week or so ago, the best members. People just need to grow up, and stop giving the mods a hard time for doing what they are suppose to do.

Now you can reply to this, and be an ***, get this one locked, I dont care. But from now on, how about we try actually thinking before we speak or type in this case. Try showing a little bit of respect. Respect to the mods, members, and our supporters.

I think the problem is we're just experiencing some growing pains... Just take it easy, let it blow over, and we'll be good.....

Since Ive been here (feb 03), weve gone from a small car club, to a large car club, and now to a VERY large car club..... This place is very busy and its not going to be smooth every step of the way.....

Out of 22,000 members, one would expect to have a few complete morons

I also believe that as a board we need to realize that the internet is not perfect. Also alot of people are misinterpreted as war mongers when they have a strong opinion. Just because you are passionate about something doesnt make you confrontational. However, I do agree with the usage of blatantly hurtful comments.

Its the Democrats.

Angry because they lost.

So they joined NICO, and take out their rage here.

Politics is actually another area that's sparked a lotta strong opinions and closed threads on NICO.

Actually that's the thread where things started going down hill IMO. What was so wrong about the birth control thread? I know it was a little off but the guy had a serious question. I haven't checked it though...did it get locked too?

I can't stand the fact that people bashed QV just because he got his car pimped. The remarks about Vicki and other women were out of line, and well she's either hammered with finals or just doesn't care to post here anymore. But one thing that bothers me is locked threads when one person thinks a thread is "stupid". Remember, when you click General Chat the description of it says " Topics that have no purpose, but you just want to say something!".

EDIT: Remember back when things were good Vicki created a thread called who's "Wicked Housed?" meaning who's drunk? The thread went back and forth about underage drinking (she's 19) and smoking weed. Never got locked. Why does a thread about what someones punishment should be for flaming QV about his car get locked? I'm not crying over it, but IMO there's no consistency there.

Basically what I'm saying is that JESTER is right. People do need to take a chill pill. I love this site, it's owner, the MODs, and the members. My only constructive criticism (did I spell that right?) is that there be more consistent grounds for deleting or locking threads. I know with 22k members strong it's tough to catch everything but consistency is good.

Good call.

Evan makes some great points, I will make a concerted effort to be more attentive to such matters.

Hopefully it'll be unnecessary.

You guys are awesome.

very good points evan. Underaged drinking and smoking weed are more serious matters than birth control discussions I would think.

EVERYONE on this board needs to remember one thing, and this is very important.

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Why didn't we lock a thread about underage drinking and smoking weed? Because everybody in the thread said their piece without being obscene. It IS possible to have a discussion about a topic that is controversial in nature without having obscene or hateful comments made. We've done it before plenty of times.

The most recent problems have been that quite a few members obviously don't know HOW to speak their minds without being inappropriate. I guarantee you that if you go back to that birth control thread and read the seond page, there are some comments there that are way too obscene to be allowed. Same with the best looking women ever thread. What started out as a bunch of pictures and a debate over who was hotter turned into comments like "i wanna lick that a$$" and a couple of dirty pictures in reference that that body part.

That is the line. You can talk about controversial stuff on NICO I promise. The problem is that there is always someone who ends up crossing the line and then others simply follow suit. As long as that line isn't crossed, the thread stands. Cross the line, and it's gone. We do have a consistent policy on that.

Nick,

One question I have to ask is why delete an entire thread if one persons comments get out of line?

Also, as a member I'd like to see some rules of conduct written and posted somewhere that we can all see it. Kinda like the search button. I know there's a small set of rules in FAQ but I think it should be more visible. This way there's no excuse for crossing the line. Just this morning was the first time I ever clicked FAQ and reviewed some board rules. I never even knew it was there before.

Nick says it's not what you say it's how you say it. I'm a little more understanding of that now and that answers some other questions I was going to ask.

I just hate to see this place turn into Elementary School and have the Mods acting as the Teacher that takes away recess if one of us screws up. Let's please act in a way that would make our parents proud (and no smartass comebacks to that one)..
