So I think I'm ready to install my Nico ECU

The small wires connect together to switch from stage II to Stage III?Can you switch with the car running?

I plan on unhooking the battery. Then carefully installing the ECU. Anything else?

Andy

Not a bad idea to disconnect the battery though

As far as I know you can switch modes while driving - although it hasn't been addressed. I know I have switched my tri-mode from whatever mode it's in to "valet" while the car was running, and it worked - so my guess would be that it's "hot swappable" - but it hasn't really been addressed.

Bowen originally recommended to turn the car off, or at least go to idle before switching programs.

Good to know. I think I'm running stage II (whatever the one is that's fairly safe) and haven't switched it for months...

I love the Nico ECU. The ECU was purchased before my knock sensors, injectors and o2 sensors were working correctly. After my Q was running correctly, the ECU sat in the garage until I got motivated.

Just fixing the other items made the car run so much better. But with the first gear start TCU, it hit the rev limiter right before it shifted. With the Nico ECU, it runs harder and shifts before hitting the rev limiter. I can't really tell between stage II and III from 0-60.

The ECU control wire is presently under the passenger floor mat. Maybe a DPDT switch set up to switch between II and III, and at the same time change the value of the resistor on the transmission for harder shifts .

Use a relay to use the rear defroster switch to bring stage 3 on.orRemove the old cell microphone guts, leaves a nice space and hole for a minature toggle switch.

I've had a NICO ECU for about 6-7 months now. I'm waiting until I get everything sorted out before putting it in. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours. I wired a small push button momentary switch from Radio Shack. Just a small black switch with a red button. When it's depressed, the ECU should be on, when it's in the off position, the program should be off. I haven't tested it yet though.

A nice voice command switch " Go to Warp 3" or " Increase peak power by 6 HP"

Push on push off will work. Momentary contact is only closed while holding the button.

Reji-- just install the ECU- its cool with the stage II program

A little scared to. Maybe when it comes back from the shop and I don't have to worry about the engine.

I'm still not 100% clear on it. If the switch is off, then what is it running? Can I leave it "ON" all the time without dying?

I've used the Dinan equivalent {fixed not adjustable} of Stage 2 for the past 15 years, same with JWT trimode TCU been in 1st gear- high shift for 2 months less, it has seen service in 3 different trannies [180k in #2].

Select the proper A/F and advance and don't worry about it.

Tech, how do I select the proper A/F and advance? Through Nissan DataScan? Like if was to get the Blazt kit setup? A friend of mine mentioned something about his ability to "tune" my Q from his laptop, but I wasn't ready to let him.
