What wheels?Mr.Coupe wrote:I had those wheels for about 3 days then got rid of them. The rear scard me to much because the suspension doesn't butterfly and it looks like they would messup the rear fenders.

lol i got one of my rims for $20, theyre not that expensive. and it looks good in person, this is me taking a pic of them with my camera phonealphapig wrote:Arts and crafts time is great, but painting wheels (especially expensive ones) isn't a great idea. It looks patchy and I doubt it will last long.
Please don't cheap out. This isn't a 240sx, all imperfections show.
Get them powder coated.
dirty rim ftw. its not supposed to be black, i only did 1 coat of black, cause i don't want the rim to be completely black.mcheddadi wrote:
that looks like a really fail job ...
looks like a dirty rim more than a black rim...
first thought that ran through my headAltima1992 wrote: omg doesnt the second pic look like sylar (evil guy) from heroes???
Jax speaks the truth! Good painting is 95% prep work and 5% actual painting. As long as you're doing a small area that doesn't need to be blended in with "proper" paint (ie. rims), then even a rattle can job can look perfect and last a long time.jaxcoupe wrote:With proper priming, paint will hold fine and looks great! I don't know what steps the OP took but I've been researching this for months now and I've seen great results that lasted for at least a couple of years with the proper priming steps, controlled painting, and lots of clear coat. I'm doing mine next week. Powdercoating is expensive and even if I have to buy more paint down the road to fix anything up or even re do them, I will still be far from paying the price for powdercoating. The guys at Discount Tire swore to me that if I paint them before putting on tires they would ruin the paint, so I'm waiting til I get tires put on. However on other forums where people painted their rims correctly, they had tires put on with no issues. It's all about how much time and effort you're willing to put into it.
yessir. i should be getting some real good shots soon, my photographist friend wants to do a shoot soon. just gotta install my springs, should be in the next week or two.Bmore-coupe wrote:Looks real good. interested to see how the rims came out in person. will you be at Carlisle?
