With our son away for the weekend, I took my wife on a last minute overnight trip to Baltimore's inner harbor. We met up with some old friends, one couple from the Baltimore 'burbs, and the other couple from northern NJ who drove to Baltimore to pickup their daughter from a cruise arriving early Sunday morning.

Baltimore is a fun town, and the city put serious money into the inner harbor. It looks great. We stayed at the Renaissance Inner Harbor (essentially a large gussied up Marriott), which overlooked the harbor. Our window literally looked down at the USS Constellation (civil war era warship). Nice looking ship except they fired the frigging cannon on Sunday morning at 9am. After strolling thru the inner harbor Saturday afternoon, we had drinks at some Irish pub. And later had a big ol' messy crab dinner at Bo Brooks in the Canton section. The restaurant slogan was accurate.."Bo knows crabs." I was disappointed that my old favorite crab joint (Obrycki's) had closed their Fells Point restaurant (though they still have two others at the local airports). but Bo's turned out to be a worthy subsitute (buuuurrrrrrp). We headed home right after breakfast this morning just in time to pick up our son from his trip.

Sorry, no pics this time, but Baltimore is certainly worth visiting.

I agree, but I have never really went there to hang out for a day or 2 and just walk the city very much even tho Ive been around the Inner Harbor plenty of times. Ive never even been to a real crab place in Baltimore! What a shame.. I request a mapquest picture of the area you visited please :)

Not to thread jack but I had a short trip to Fredricksburg this morning at like 6am with about 30 min sleep the night before (sucked), but the Sonics hotdogs at 830am was well worth it lol. I feel so fat now.

Bo's is a casual, traditional crab house, with paper table cloths and buckets for the crab carcasses. It's a fun meal.

The Renaissance:

We drove to the Canton section but I believe there was water taxi service available, which was kinda cool, but it was a bit too chilly for that.

The Renaissance is an enormous convention hotel, pricey for what it was, but that was where our friends stayed, The location and views out the windows were great. For one night, it was fine.

Baltimore can be a fun city. I haven't been up there since I moved back to DC.
