So it looks like we got a heads up on this massive recall with the Turbo engine.
I'm curious to know if anyone has had this done yet as we usually are late to the game on recalls. But this one might be pretty recent.

No one's had it done yet because we don't have a bulletin yet. I'll try to post something when it comes out (although until NHTSA makes it public, I won't be able to post the actual bulletin, until then it's considered confidential). All I'll say for now is that I'm a little surprised to see the KR20's involved, we haven't seen them turning bearings and popping head gaskets anything like the KR15's. Maybe NHTSA is just suspicious of the whole design. If so, IMHO it's deserved.

I checked and its accurate the dealers are aware now, as it says they got the memo 7/15.

End of August we'll get our recall notices. The big question is, is it better to wait as long as possible for the recall or not.

If the bearing damage is gradual, and Nissan will only run the recall check on the vehicle once, then waiting as long as possible seems like it would yield the highest probability of getting a new engine out of it.

And also very curious, just the KR15DDT gets a ECU retune, but for what? Are they changing the variable compression ratio mapping to be more conservative with its compression ratio?
For 2.0L engines, the vehicle will receive an oil change to remove any potential contaminants.
For 1.5L engines, the service will include an oil change, oil pan gasket replacement, and reprogramming of the Engine Control Module (ECM) to enhance engine monitoring and performance.

To clarify, the notice you linked was the dealer notification, but that doesn't mean repairs can be conducted yet. It's like a notice of intent. Nothing will actually happen until the parts chain is full and a corresponding service bulletin is issued. We don't have those yet.

Update, as of this morning NTB25-034 was issued for the 19~20 Altimas and NTB25-033 about availability of short blocks. I'm sure the Rogues won't be far behind.

Hey friend! I always forget your in here and not in alti forums anymore but I think I am experiencing the same dang thing except for it is on the other engine! I swear they all sound and smell the same. Let me know how I can get back I. Contact. U are literally the most resourceful person in here! I’ve finally accumulated tools, scanners, j boxes. Too bad back a few years ago when I didnt know sh*t and you were one of the only people nice enough to assist me when I came crying for help. Forever the most generous person online I’ve chatted with who actually knows what they are talking about and always humble. 💯

You can just PM me, but you don't have enough posts yet to do it. I think you need 10.

The recall is still only for the '19~'20 Altima turbos, and if I recall correctly your ride has the PR engine and not the KR turbo. So the recall wouldn't apply to you.

Normally yes, noobs need a minimum of 10 posts before they're granted PM access.

I've just removed Arp209 from the new member section, so PM's should be available.
