Good evening too you all. I have a simple question for some that may have done their own tests. We all know that there are lovely myths like iridium plugs add Soo much power and I'm pretty sure that's a bogus lie. But my question is with the NGK V power vs the NGK standard plug. According to NGK they state that it will increase the efficiency of the engine. Has anyone here run them and noticed any difference? No I'm not expecting HP gains but more of drivability changes. Any info would be great. Thanks

mac , i'm wondering what you know about the "bogus lie" with respect to Irridium plugs , your pretty sure you say , seriously please educate the many out there on that one .And I would like to see of course your question answered on V-power vs Std. NGK - that's a little less discussed than IR plugs ,thanks G 4/2/2018

With the iridium plugs your not gotta gain anything when all it calls for is a regular copper plug. It's like the regular to premium fuel. If the car wasn't designed for the premium then it's not going to benefit most of the time.

I'd say that's correct.

I have a pretty broad collection of classic Datsuns, and I've never noticed any real driveability difference on the couple occasions I tested any of the "fancy" plugs.

Now I'm going to assume you have used the V power plug? And I do thank you for your input. Also if you near the Phoenix area I want to see your collection lol.

Yep. No gains noted. On these ignition systems, spark is spark.

I'm in the far NW valley.

mac ,I've noticed with IR (NGK endure better than Denso) in three vehicles , two of which had adj. base timing and in AZ summer w/ 103 +Deg, F (103 -119 deg :tisk: :tisk: ) Hottest days would ping (always prem.gas used) much , much less using Irridium and even could adv. timing that 1 to 2 degrees like when it's COOL for retaining awsome RESPONSE . :yesnod
Difference admittedly minor ,but we all try to do things that all ADD-UP collectively to gain performance ! Like guys putting something that costs several HUNDRED $$$$$ and get 18 more HP (over narrow rpm spectrum ) :lolling: G 4/5/2018

I've always prefered Desno as they at last check were in fact made in japan where the NGK's were not. I think both a quality plugs and I use the V power or U groove depending on brand, I have no complaints about either.
