Is it safe to assume that all NGK are pre-gapped and it does not require to be gapped before install?

Smart to double-check. I think there have been posts on altering the gap somewhat from factory setting...

You definately want to double check. In most cases it will be pretty accurate. As a precaution I always give it a light tap at the specified gap with a rubber mallet whenever I replace plugs. you can get a gauge at any auto parts store for a couple bucks. I also (lightly) score the tip with very fine sand paper before install.

ngk's usually come with a cardboard cylinder over the threads/tip.

the gap is almost always accurate out of the box.

autolite plugs on the other hand for domestics and such, do not come with such protection, and the gap is usually wide.
