Fact 1: I need new spark plugs.

Fact 2: I hear NGK rocks.

Fact 3: A quick application search on SparkPlugs.com yields not one but 6 different NGK plugs that fit my car, ranging from $2.24 to $11.71.

My engine is a stock KA, though i plan on intake and maybe exhaust in the fairly near future. What's the smart buy? Do spark plugs really give you a performance boost or do I buy the $11.71 plugs just so I can be all like yo I paid twelve dolla a pizziece for my spark plugs, bra.

Thanks. =/

The reason they have a few choices is that NGK sells 6 diffrent plugs, ranging from Standard to their Iridium versions. They all have diffrent levels of performance, durability, and longevity.

Here's a list...

Standard -- BKR5ES-11V-Power -- BKR5E-11G-Power Platinum -- BKR5EGP Laser Platinum -- PFR5B-11OE Laser Iridium -- IFR5E11Iridium -- IX BKR5EIX-11

ive got the iridiums but by mistake. i made a larger purchase from PDM racing and they sent the iridiums instead of the platinums i ordered. and they also forgot to add all for spark plugs to the price so i ended up getting a set of iridiums for the price of one platinum. it wont make any noticable power difference unless you have some really worn/damaged plugs but the iridiums will last longer

I can't find the G-Powers in any store near here =( I can only find V-Powers. I guess I'll order em online.

What about wires though? NGK wires are expensive as hell, plus they only come in blue (that I've seen). Anybody know anything about Xact or Autolite? or do you have some other wires to recommend?

Thanks guys! I'll prolly go with the V-Powers then, as I can get them locally. The only wires I can get locally are, like I said, brands I've never heard of. Autolites are like $70. Xact's are $40 or $50. The Auroras look nice, and PDM generally seems to know what they're talking about though. Plus they're cheap. Maybe I'll just order everything from PDM. Thanks. =)

In my spark plug research I've come across lots of stuff on gapping and over/undertorqueing. I just have a spark plug wrench and was gonna pop out the old ones and pop in the new ones...what else do I need to do? =/ Someone point me to some info on this? Thanks!

Put a little bit of that liquid gasket goop on the threads of each plug. It will give you a better seal on the plugs.

never heard of this kinda advice... r u just pullin' my leg?

i've heard of using antiseize compound for the threads & torque them to the lower torque spec range that they give ya...

u can "borrow" a torque wrench from a parts place... highly recommend using one for the plugs.
