have an 02 spec V and just put a cold air intake, header, and exhaust on and was wondering what would be the next best step to take to get better horse power. Was thinking about a new computer but have no idea how to get one please help if you can. I'm pretty new at this.

From what I remember you could eliminate the the balance shafts on the bottom of the block and can pick up some hp from that. JWT has a kit to eliminate it....good for 5hp, maybe. You could also go with the cams for it, I don't know how much power they're good for. Also theres always the turbo option. Turbonetics has a kit for the QR...so

Balance shaft removal and motor mounts will really give the car smoother power delivery. It won't be a huge hp increase, but as far as feel they're great mods.

Jim Wolf Technology has a BS removal kit. Polyurethane motor mounts can be had from Energy suspension, while Nissan offers a higher-durometer rubber set if you are concerned with vibration.

if ur talkin ecu wise, try the Apexi Power FC. Its inexpensive (by standalone standards) and easy as hell to install. With the commander unit ( optional) u can both monitor and set many of the engine tuning parameters without a laptop. Plug in play at its best.

Piggyback computer isn't really worth it unless you have an extra 200-300 sitting around. It's only a couple of horsepower even to a fully bolted car.

the apexi S-AFC is a good mod only after you have done almost everything else.

like the others have said the BSR is a good mod although it increases vibration. with tune cams are good for about 8-10 hp N/A.

if you really want to head to the next step in the exhaust mods, you can install a midpipe however you exhaust will stink nasty and you will fail smog inspection. you could always keep your stock cat and swap it back in when necessary. some people have also have had thier throttle body and intake manifolds polished down.

Midpipes don't necessarily replace the cat, in fact all the ones I know of don't. It's the only way to make a header all that useful.

To get around smog, just relocate the 2nd O2 sensor behind the cat. Unless your state has a strict visual inspection (and/or you don't get to know your inspector), you're golden.

i think we are using different lingo. perhaps you say downpipe as alot of people do and everytime some one says downpipe (in alot of forums) on an NA car, someone says "DOWN PIPE IS ON TURBO ONLY N00B!" lol so thats when i started refereing to a racing or test pipe as a midpipe. its all in the words. atleast i think thats where our disagreement is.

Yeah. Midpipe is from the header to the cat, test pipe replaces the cat. Downpipes refer to a midpipe coming from a turbo. Why they're considered different is beyond me, but that's the terminology I always see.
