Hahahaha..The FR32 are quiet a popular car as a drift hack in Japan. But most opt for a SR20DET transplant to piss the RB guys .Unlike the HCR32 or BNR32, the FR32 comes with four lug wheels and rear drum brakes, something to look into when going for serious power.themadscientist wrote:I always wanted to get a GXi (R32 with a CA18) and swap in a hot turbo twin cam Silvia CA to piss-off the RB guys. They only came in four doors though blech!
Why would that piss off us RB guys?......Putting a lower potential motor in a heavier car then the S13 sivlia and 180sx wouldn't piss us off, just make us laugh. The RB's are allot stronger blocks, higher displacement, two more cylinders, and a hell of allot more potential.SKAGEE wrote:Hahahaha..The FR32 are quiet a popular car as a drift hack in Japan. Well actually, the SR20's are popular transplants on Skylines, Cefiros and Laurels ( cars that usually run on 6 cyclinders) because of the better balance the car will get by the weight reduction and most importantly, the placement of the engine ( which has less over-hang as compared to the 6 cyclinders) Not for its outright power> However it's good to note that the SR20 has more torque as compared to the RB20 and in the later batches the SR20s are at par with the earlier RB25 engine. As far as tuning potential goes, the SR20 has more aftermarket parts available as compared to the RB20 and RB25 combined...the RB26 is a different story thoughDETurbine wrote:

I would agree with your statement 100% But I will stick with the RB for my next project. I will be Back in Japan as of Jan. and my next project will be a R32 GTS-T type M for Drift but I will stick with the RB series. I will transplant the 20 for a 26 which will be heavily modified over the next three years and brought back to go in my 240 which will replace the 25. Uless of coarse I find a way to get the whole thing back legal other than motorex.themadscientist wrote:true that. That is a popular drift car setup. The weight savings and power jump dropping the SR in place of the RB20 are very desirable. Before somebody types a hate message back, I am a very documented RB-lover and SR-hater but I don`t let that get in the way of my judgement. I would not do it because I hate SRs but I wouldn`t think less of another for the same thing.
