Well since i can't stop working on this car ive decided to get speakers. Now i know the Doc is going to know most if not all the answers, and so will applebonker. So here is the scenario.

Im running 2 12" Rockford P3's in the trunk with a P550.2 Amp (all Rockford Fosgate btw)I don't have an aftermarket headunit. Ill probably buy the Avic D3 or something similar next summer. But i want some better quality speakers, i understand that the stock altima non bose has 6 speakers.

two in the dash 3.5" two in the front door 6.5"two in the rear deck 6"X9"

Mind you guys, i have subs so i need some advice on which ones to replace. And also should i put some speakers into the rear doors?

I'm looking for some slick deals also LBC. I''m going to college in a week and i wont be able to blow as much money as i have been.

So any suggestions on how many and which speakers to get? And after that we'll talk about all that fun wiring stuff.

Ok, your first concern should be the front sound stage. I would go with some new speakers in the front doors and dash (you can leave the stock speakers in the back or remove them completely, so don't worry about them yet). You can probably get a good component setup and put the mids in the doors and the tweets in the dash. However, most decent quality speaker setups will not run well off the stock deck. You're probably going to need to consider another amplifier. I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but wiring up the second amp should be relatively easy since you've already got the wiring to the trunk for your current amp. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of budget are you looking at?

alright now i know where to start. I don't mind getting a new amp. i just need to know what type of amp i would need (how many channels?) for the two 3.5's and the 6.5's

now i know you get what you pay for, but i don't want the most expensive. i just want the best bang for my buck kinda thing. I love my rockfords and i got them at cost but i don't have that luxury this time. but who knows maybe ill end up paying the big bucks for rockford. I just wanna know what you think i could go with other than the rockfords and still have great sound quality while paying less. any suggestions?

Sorry, totally not paying attention. Well, I would go component for the fronts (6.5 in the doors and tweeter up front - which would not be 3.5 inches, probably closer to 1-1.5). So you would only need a two channel amp for the fronts. If you're concerned with adding rear speakers later, it would be worth going with a four channel amp now so all you need to do later is install rear speakers (unless you decide to leave the rears out). If you go two channel now and leave the rears out but decide to later add rear speakers, you'd need to get another amp. That is the dilemma. Give me a figure of about what you're thinking to spend and I'll see if I can come up with some good recommendations.

No big haha your the one helping me so i cant ask of too much

but that sounds like a good solution. I think i want to leave my options for the rear speakers open and get a multi channel amp. that way down the road im not stuck with getting ANOTHER amp. the big dillema is the money now. I wasn't expecting to have to get another amp and the multi-channel amps are gonna get expensive.

I just went to crutchfield.com and looked at amplifiers. the first one i saw was a "budget friendly AND its RF . http://www.crutchfield.com/App...p=115 .... what do you think?

Hm, been a while since I ran some budget amps. I don't have experience with the RF stuff (maybe Doc can help you out there), but I have run some profile equipment before. It held up well for me (and that was when I was new to this stuff and beat the hell out of my gear). Come to think of it, my sister still has a profile 2-channel bridged powering her subs and it's been running well for a while (going strong a couple years later). Profile definitely doesn't make the best stuff on the market, but I think they do some quality work within that price-range.

that model is from 2 generations ago, and its a punch amp... I'd go with the Rockford Power amps (T-400-4 or T600-4) and stay away from the punch amps.. not that the punch amps are bad, they just aren't as efficient or powerful as the Power Amps
