I recently finished re-doing my DP the right way, unlike that crap that was on there B4. Moving on to the next items on my proverbial list.... The engine needs a rebuild and a new clutch is in order. I pulled the engine Friday night and ordered some 8.6:1 pistons for the hardbody KA (see my other post). Still need to find a decent stage 2 clutch. I'm not sure I want the stage 3, with 6 puck. Trying to keep this thing steetable and don't want a super-harsh clutch. Any recomendations here?

Hadn't seen the DP out of the car b4, damn it looks sweet.

A shot of the block on the lift.

I hope I can figure out where all this goes.

What kind of boost an HP are you planning on. I should actually be asking how much torque you'll be making as clutches are rated by torque.

My ACT street clutch holds my 6.5 psi just fine. I know of a person who ran the same clutch up to at least 11 psi. Not sure if he upgraded now that he's running about 17 psi.

Based on my last dyno and with the new upgrades plus the higher boost, I'm hoping for +-300TQ. What's good/cheap? It's gotta be a friendly clutch too!

Well, the more power you make, the more unstreetable a clutch becomes. You can either increase the clamping force of the pressure plate and/or use more exotic materials and set-ups. Heavier pressure plates tend to be hard on the leg. Exotic materials tend to be more like on/off switches and can wear the pressure plate and flywheel surfaces quickly. Particularly with metallic compounds. Carbon on Carbon is supposed to have some nice traints, but will probably be custom for a 240 at this point. Multi-plates are another option, but availability may be limited for the 240 and it may have an on/off switch like actuation. I think JWT had an organic multiplate disc available for the Z32 or something. Not sure if they have anything that will work on the 240 though. I don't see a specific application for the KA, but you may be able to do something with a combination of other nissan parts. I don't remember specifics, but there was a lot of discussion on FA about using a larger diameter disc that would still work on the existing flywheel Something like that might be feasible if they have a multi-plate application for it.

Stroll through Enjuko's site. I use the SPEC stg3, but I'm looking for alot more torque then you are.

There are tons of threads on freshalloy on the 'White Bunny Special' clutch. It's a cutsom modified flywheel for the KA that uses a clutch from a 280zx turbo. The 280zx clutch has a 240mm diameter friction surface instead of the 225mm of the KA. You can get the flywheel from Design Products in California, it costs $400, I believe that it is an aluminum flyhweel at about 11lbs. If you go with the ACT heavy duty pressure plate and the orgainc disk it is supposed to be good to 400lb/ft of torque.I'm ordering one this week to replace the CF dual friction that started to slip on me.Search around of FA to find the phone number of Design Products.

Or you could purchase a KA 4x4 truck pressure plate, have your flywheeel resurfaced to 240mm and new screw holes made for the new pressure plate. Then you could use any 240mm Nissan clutch out there.

Maybe even buy an old 240mm pressure plate, the 300zx and KA 4x4 truck are exactly alike, and add the old diaphragm to the new pressure plate making it a high pressure pp. But it's hard on the leg.

Or as has been said before go with the DP 11lb  flywheel and buy a 240mm Nissan pp.

Another pic as requested. I basically cut the stock elbow off and put a piece of cast pipe from the plumbing supply place on 180 degrees from where it was. I had the Stainless pipe flared to slide over it and then welded that on.

I wound up ordering a 6 puck stage 3 clutch. It has ceramic pucks, should hold up to some pretty good abuse. I hope I can get used to the new feel that it will have.

On to more stuff on my list......

I rebuilt the power steering pump today, it had been leaking for a while.

I've started to do some BS stuff like cleaning and painting parts so that it will look nice when I get done.

I noticed that my water pump had a seal coming off from around the shaft....does the enngine kit usually come with new seals for that? or do I have to buy some kind of kit for it as well? I may look for an upgrade for my stock one too. Any suggestions?

I also found that one of my motor mounts broke in half. I also found out that they cost about 100 buck each new. Anyone got a useable one from a swap or something? Too much little BS is killing me on this rebuild.
