Had a great time at the NICO Fest here in Nashville, TN over the weekend and the mod bug has got me again. Wanted to get some feedback on my next mods. I have the basic....Stillen intake / Z tube and 5/16 spacer. I was thinking about some lowering springs or the Unorthodox Racing Underdrive Crank Pulley. Looking to spend around 300 on the part. The exhaust needs to wait, but a Stillen Dual is on my wish list.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!

I thought that was only the cheap ebay ones....Unorthodox Racing too? I was really looking to boost my low end power.

The cheap ones on EBAY tend to CRACK and shatter, but most people who have UR Pulleys have stated that they HAVE had problems with engine failure and alternator problems ,

Personally, ive installed about 70% of parts on my brothers autoshops G , i havnt installed \ seen a UR underpully on a G yet , and there are some highly modded G's in the atlanta area

So getting a set of Eibach Springs would be a better choice? Any other recommendations for a mod?

Hey Chad....I saw your post before about the UR pulley and from your post I have become interested in getting one. Just wanted to see if there was anything else out there for the same amount of money. The drop kit would be nice too....I feel the G's sit too high for me. Some of friends drive 350z and there is a big different in the height of the cars.

Thank you for the feedback and keep your opinions coming!!!

yeah. i've been looking into a set of eibach's. they'd really make the car look tighter.

unfortunately, they're more than the UR pulley. and i drive it more than i look at it.

i've also been looking into a new set of ground wires. i found a set that are twice as thick as Stillen's and only $30. i've just been lazy.

An underdrive pully will only add about 5HP. If you want an extra 5hp, you can get beter ventilation to your engine and a cooler thermostat. Add a few PSI to your tires, that'll free up a little bottem end. You can get lighter weight wheels. Anything that will shave off 10lbs of unsprung weight will not add HP, but will give you the accelleration of an additiopnal 5HP. If you store golf clubs, or other heavy crap in the trunk, you can take that stuff out, and it will speed up your bottem end as well.

Basically with my experiences with UR pulleys .. they are bad for most people, some poeple never had problems with them at all . it can be costly if you do end up having problems with them tho

Other than that , my advice is ... its your RISK if you would like to do it

Oo didnt relize you posted Bean , my article \ write-up about the Turbos has been stickied if youd like to check it out =P

hey, beancooker. it's not the 5 hp. it frees up more of your cars hp by underdriving the other pulleys. the 5 hp isn't noticable. what IS noticable is the amount of hp my car has at lower rpms. it's the way your car drives after you install it it, not the hp gain.

Kinda like using lighter weight wheels. Just feels quicker.

Your car... if you feel inclined to do it, great! Also, if you do it, take pictures, and do a write up. I'll give you a custom title if you make a nice article.

i've got a custom title - "Guinea Pig" and it's for installing a UR pulley a few months ago and not just being someone that has "heard" horror stories.

it doesn't just "feel faster," either. it IS faster. and it's not the 5 hp gain, either. the car's hp is freed up. it's ESPECIALLY noticable at lower rpms, where our cars are a little lacking in my opinion. until you drive one yourself you can't really make a fair comparison. if you've got a few bucks and the mechanical know how than you should buy one yourself and try it for a week or two and then see if it's the same as lighter wheels.

i appreciate your concern, though. it was a pretty big risk. i did A LOT of research before i actually installed it. i'd repeat it all but i can't even remeber it. it's all in my previous post, though.

i didn't have a decent camera at the time to take pics during the install. now it's too tight in there to see it.

i'll report in with any problems ASAP (or smoked stock g coupes ). i wouldn't want anyone else to mess up there car. but, if the mod holds true than we should all benefit!

maybe after a year or so we can change my title to "Super Star!"

BTW - i hope this post doesn't come off as rude. i just get a little tired of the "it's only 5 hp" thing and "i have a buddy who knows a guy that read some where that they cause problems." i really do reccomend getting even a cheap $80 pulley off of ebay and install it just for a week (than get a UR pulley) so you can see the difference for yourselves. it really is quite impressive.
