The new G is going to be a Q50...due in about 10 days at the Detroit Auto Show. Our EX will now be Qx50's....
Nobody is searching for QX's yet...or even know what they are.
So what if someone gets what we now call a G37X, would it be a Q50(x)? At least the current system has the benefit of separating the models, giving engine size and denoting if awd or not. Apparently some new management decided that people look at the numbers and think a smaller one denotes a "lesser" car. Well, yeah, it means a smaller engine and MSRP. Perhaps they are getting ready to roll out a 4 cylinder turbo or something. I'd rather see them go to the Japanese names as in calling the G a Skyline. This Q idea just seems confusing, and for the EX, JX and FX risks confusing names with Audi's SUVs. Plus, what the hell does 50 denote? A 50 grand MSRP to pay for the costs of changing the names?
