Not sure if this is a really rough early illustration or if they will be evolving this over the next while...but I'm not impressed at all with the direction they are headed with the Coupe.
And why would Infiniti, as the article states, go "decidedly German" in the Sedan? They have a great design language as it stands, no need to ape the Germans....

The whole German influence comes as a result of Nissan sleeping with Mercedes' daughter on the side. So to speak. Sort of.

I know that this is only an early artistic rendering, but I'm not really a big fan of that styling AT ALL. Way to angular and chiseled looking. One of the main reasons I didn't buy another BMW 3 was that harsh and choppy looking exterior of the current generation. I prefer lines that flow smoothly from front to rear and present an aggressive yet simple and classy appearance. The car in that picture doesn't do any of that.

I also have no interest in a hybrid, and certainly wouldn't pay a premium over a straight combustion powered vehicle that will offer significantly less weight and more performance for a lower price.

If that's what the next generation Infiniti looks like, then I'm even more glad I picked up a 2010 model. They describe this new look as more up-scale. I think the opposite is true. It looks more futuristic, if that's the look someone prefers. The current model manages to be sporty, stylish and classy. If that rendering is accurate, it's sad to see Infiniti sell out on all of that in order to be BMW's little brother.

I like Infiniti since they not looking at other cars/carmakers for design ideas. Hope they released these pictures so they can see what people think. If not than well...
I guess time to look for another car maker.Kind of like the new Audi and MB line anyways. Maybe time to switch. We shall see. Time will tell.

Nope, not a fan of this at all. For now, I am sure glad I have my 09. I was worried about the direction this car would go after Nissan and MB decided to get in bed together. But these futuristic renderings sometimes are way off base. If the new G borrows styling cues from the Essence then it could turn out to be a beautiful car. I guess we wait now...

I just read in Autocar that Infiniti is looking to release a front wheel drive Coupe with similar practicality to a 3 door hatch.
I'm thinking this illustration is looking like that concept...
I guess Infiniti also has a lot to reveal at the Concourse D'Elegance, possibly the M Coupe, and other surprises. (I've heard rumours of an Infiniti Performance Line, like Nismo...)

I like the looks of the current MB and Audi also, but I couldn't own either of them because of their relatively insipid performance. If you enjoy exhilaration during acceleration, you'll have to pony up BIG bucks for the S4 or AMG C-Class if you want to have any fun. At the ~$40K price point, the standard models just don't offer what you can get in a G37 or 335 in terms of power and handling.

I know the Hybrid version will have 400 hp... However 60K??? That's just not very Infiniti like, that's way to expensive! Mind as well go with an M3.

+1 at that price point it is not very competitive in the G price segment. Plus I thought the point of a hybrid was to save gas I do not see how having a 400hp car will save any gas and the environment :gotme

That looks more like what I would expect from a grille perspective. A bit too aggressive though.

The artist's rendering (grey one) of the front and back angle makes me think of the early Tiburon, and that's NOT a good thing...
