i saw a segment about problems police have been having in new york lately with rim theft. They showed the whole process on tv too. they have been targeting 09 maximas and 09 g37. the thieves use cement blocks that they cut to the perfect height and place them underneath the frame (where u would put a jack). then they flatten ur tires which creates enough slack to take the rims off cleanly without jacking the car up. I was shocked at how fast they did this. just thought i would let u guys know i was bored and the threads on here have been slowly dying lately.

where I live the silverado 19 inch wheels were being stolen pretty much everyday. Unfortunately for my dads silverado his wheels were one of the few. my neighbor had told me to get wheel locks for my dads truck because they had stolen his wheels from his silverado too, but the chief doesnt listen. two weeks later we go out ready to go to school and its on blocks.

lol here in sacramento they just steal the car and take it to a field and take what they want then light the car on fire.... only stock rims i've heard about getting stolen in my area are Honda rims but then again its a Honda so it could be stolen by a first grader lol

Yeah rim theft has been insane lately here in NYC. I have experienced it first hand when I was at Surman's crib and his boy got his Acura wheels taken. What do u expect when 5 minutes of work gets u $2500....

I actually just got wheel locks, but I know they won't do much. If they really want your rims, theyll find a way to get em.

Glad to have gotten the wheel locks form my dealer as a freebie when I bought my coupe, even though I'm still running stockers. If someone really wants your rims, the locks like anything else won't stop them, but if someone is out trying to score easy money they might move on to the next car without the locks that's easier to deal with...at least that's the hope.

my friend is a city cop and he has been telling me acura strock rims on TL's and TSX's expecially can be melted down for big cash. People are stealing the rims and scrapping them. Its the easiest way to make the money without getting caught. He said usually its a hassle to sell the stock rims for a decent price and you risk getting caught. By melting them you are getting rid of the evidence and making good money at the same time.

Also in response to the locks, dealer locks can be purchased by thieves since they know what car you have. some successfull things I have heard done were crossthreading the rims. Have a stud reversed so righty loosens it and lefty tightend it (it may distract a thief and he will actually be tightening the rims) I heard of someone who did this on their g35 with volk rims. theives want a clean steal and anything that holds them up will make them second guess or even give up. I myself have rays super thin lugs in black. I had to order a key for them and it was a whole process to get it. it was annoying but good in a way.

1. lower you car with springs... the block for the stockers won't fit properly2. use 3 different wheel locks on EACDH wheel (sounds like overkill, but again, most thieves may not have all three keys for you three types of locks3. get a real alrm as opposed to the crappy factory one4. Get a gun, when your pager alarm goes off, catch em in the act and hold em until the police get there (or if you're in texas, just shoot em... you guys get away with murder down there [literally]

Not sad at all. Scum bags deserve what they get. Peple work hard for the stuff they have only to get it stolen. I own a gun, granted I would not go for the back.. but a leg at the least
