Okay, I am now a happy owner of a 93' Hatchback. Stock everything, and coffee stained interior. I picked the car up in Houston yesterday, and drove it all the way back to Dallas. The shocks/struts are in HORRIBLE condition, but I already have an idea of the suspension I want (Tein springs, KYB shocks/struts, camber kit)(suggestions on where to buy would be helpful).

1.) I was really excited & worked up after that long drive, and forgot to check the oil before I made my way back home. I took the car to work this morning to clean it up (I am a PDI Tech at a Honda dealership), and remembered to look at the ole' dipstick. Wiped it off, and poked her back in..pulled it out & WHAM! No oil. Just so happens that after I started it back up & heard a clanking noise coming from the motor. s***!! I pulled the valve cover off, and the guard thing that goes above the timing chain was broke. I removed this, and put the valve cover back on, but it still sounds like the chain is rattling a little. Hopefully nothing else is broken. What is that guard thing called? Will it hurt to drive without it?

2.) I was doing about 90, and shifted into neutral, and as soon as I pressed the brake, 3 lights came on. (Check engine, oil, and brake) As soon as I put it in gear, they shut off. It did this one more time, for a total of two times. Any ideas?

Pr0n!!

Welcome to NICO.With all due respect. They're 20 year old cars.... They only look and run better after you replace everything. But may I ask why you where going 90mph in a car you JUST bought?!

As for the warning lights, I'd start with running over the wires looking for roasted or corroded wires and grounds. Then again. It might just be what the light is telling you...Oil light: Bad pressureCheck engine: 1,000,001 thingsBrake: Low brake fluid

I was doing 90 because my brother was wanting me to "get on it", so I did for a little bit. I wasn't like.. cruising at 90mph for a sustained amount of time. Plus, it's not like I had not drove it for 5 hours straight the day before. Maybe it wasn't the best idea, but hey... it's only my life & my brother's. :P

I'll go over the things you listed tomorrow. I'm assuming it's a wiring issue due to the fact that it happened only when I shifted into neutral & hit the brakes, and turned off only when I put it back in gear.

Many of us on NICO along with myself do not condone reckless driving. I've seen too many deaths and totaled cars because someone wanted to "get on it". You never know when another driver is going to come around a corner or a kid is going to run out into the street without looking. Keep in on the track, save lives. /rantNothing personal, just the average welcome to the Nissan world and please don't crash another 240 speech.

tein springs wont give u enough of a drop, i would just spend a bit more and get some camber adjustable coilovers instead. the think that broke was probably the timing chain guide. hopefully u got all the pieces out. wont hurt the engine without it. And pretty much all KA24DE timing chains rattle, unless u took the guides out.

I've been creeping around on these forums for awhile, and I've seen plenty of the reckless drifting/speeding speeches. I'll keep it off the road. As for wrecking a 240, as long as I park away from my girlfriend's Expedition, I should be okay. She backed into my right front fender this morning.

I'll definitely look into coilovers. What brand do you suggest? I have a buddy at work that had coilovers on his integra & HATED them. Something about being too wavy or something.

Using an integra as an example for coilovers, FUNNY!!!!! Coilovers have been the BEST investment aside from my rb25 that my s13 has had. Day and Night difference! Right now I'm running Megan streets maxed out on stiffness. It feels better to me than my wife's stock s14 for DD.Stance coilovers are popular too.Just get coilovers. End.
