hey i just signed up for this forum now htat i bought myself an i30t ('96) the engine has about 98k miles on it is there any suggestions regarding tune ups and mods? the oil on it looks fine but it will be changed nonetheless any suggestions? i was planning on going w/a k&n oil filter and mobil 1 oil, i was also planning on get a stillen air intake or cattman, ive read the CAI/WAI posts and decided maybe i'll go cheap and just create one myself from autozone parts, not sure. i got 2 codes on the car after i put a newly charged battery in the car (the car was in a junk yard so i had to charge the battery) they were P0115 and P0325, the awkward thing is these codes didnt show up (or any) before i took the battery out and charged it at autozone. any other tune up suggestions? oh, and i was planning on replacing the spark plugs and wires, any brand preferences? and the transmission fluid needs replacing, tips? any help would be appreciated thanks

Welcome!

Your codes are coolant temperature sensor and knock sensor. I recommend doing some searching/reading on the knock sensor issue.

Oil and filter...I'm personally not a huge fan of K&N oil filters. Not only are they expensive, but there are better options. I use SuperTech (get it at walmart) which is made by Mobil but is sold as a budget filter (so better AND cheaper than the K&N).

For plugs, stick to OEM NGKs. You'll be glad you did, and so will your car.

Since you just bought the car, it's probably a good idea to at least change all fluids. It might be worth it to have the transmission flushed. Make sure the coolant looks good, too.

it's a general rule of mine to never flush anything if it hasn't been done at regular intervals. Replace the fluids and you'll be much better off in the end. Make sure your brakes are ok. Do you know how long it's been sitting? You may need new tires if it sat too long (the rubber can develop flat spots). Good luck with the car and welcome to NICO

Welcome bro!

i have never used the super tech filter and do not really know that much about it, but i recommend the purolator pure one (Part # PL14610) and standard castrol GTX 5w-30. i ran this in my 95 till she died at 225K miles. (accident, not engile problems)

i agree on not doing any flushes, just drain and refill with fresh lubricants.

cattman stopped producing the best intake ever (my opinion), so you have the options of stillen, injen, or do it yourself.

lets see some pics!

i decided i am going to replace the fluids and filters, for now ima go with the disposable fram filter until i save for the stillen intake and hopefully the transmission flush won't cost too much (are there any questions i should ask when gettint it flushed) and ima replace the ngk's are they the regular platinums? as for the tires and brakes: all tires have been replaced within a week i bought it and ima buy brake pads soon as a precaution they seem fine but just in case. thanks for your help guys and pics will be posted once i fix it it up a little

btw are there any threads where i can find the oil, transmission, and coolant drain plugs diagram and
