so im trying to get my car started finally after quite a break. theres fuel, spark, and timing but theres a hickup. the 2 middle plugs are black as all hell. im just running a completely stock SR redtop swap in 89 240 (93 octane, fresh new plugs gapped to .036). it gets to the point where it turns over and wants to start but it never catches and comes to life. what would be the next logical step to tracking down the issue?

have u ever had the motor running before or are u just finishing up a swap and still avent started it yet. if its the second one, check to make sure u have ur fuel inlet and outlets hooked up correctly. i know it sounds stupid but that was my problem during my swap startup and ive heard of others doing the same thing.

Thanks for the help, it's a newly finished swap. I'll give that a try today and report back, I pray it's the issue because I know it's not the timing, and I'm praying it's not in the harness...

First would be to check timing.

Then check each plug and coilpack outside the engine. Have a friend crank the car while you check for spark.

If that passes, then next step would be to check the injectors to make sure they're not squirting more fuel than required. If they are, o-rings could be shot.

After that, check the maf wiring.

After that, check all wiring, check the Frsport.com wiring guide if there's any problems.
