After installing a d3 in my 08 sedan, i notice my stock speakers in the back sucks. What brand should i get to replace my stock speaker. I want the one that is crisp and good thump(don't want to put a sub or amp in my car) thanks.

I know that the Infinity Kappa speakers are supposed to be some of the best speakers you can buy. rjdmmfl1 said in a post a couple of threads below this that they are awesome. However, I have the regular Reference speakers in my current car, and while they sound good I can tell that they are begging for an amp. I think if you really want some thump out of your regular car speakers without adding a sub you'll really want to look into getting an amp to power them. After all, the D3 puts out 22RMSx4 I believe, and that really isn't that much power for a nice satisfying thump. It's all subjective of course...

Boston S series require very little to power and sound great. 6x9", S95 need only 35w rms. 6.5" S65 only need 35w rms as well. I got the S60 component setup in the front and S953 in the rear, i like the way it sounds. the 3/4" tweeters sound 10x better than the 3.5" in the dash. These are Audiophile speakers not your bass pounders.

OK, for the record... BOSTON ACOUSTIC SPEAKERS ARE THE BEST CAR SPEAKERS ON THE PLANET!

Now, regarding your everyday listener, the Infinity Kappa Perfect components are damn good also, but ALL OF THEM require amps to push them. Without amps, they will sound weak and impotent!

Even the Infinity Reference speakers need amps, and I don't mean the 22 rms coming from the Avic D3 either. My current plan is to get the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5 components for the front, and the 6 x 9 Inifity Kappa's for the rear (they don't make 6x9 infinity kappa perfects)

I'll be using the Rockford T600-4 bd Amp to push these internal speakers, a serperate amp to push the center channel speaker, and I'll be using the Rockford 3sixty.2 with Dolby processing to get full use out of the center channel! Entire setup costs ~ 3000.00 so its gonna take me a while, but patience is a virtue... actually, I think I might just pull it out of savings and get it done for the Stillen meet in May!!

I'm going to have to disagree rj Sure, Boston has ruled the component scene for a long time, but the new JL ZR series is seriously challenging Boston for that top spot. I heard the JL's at a shop and damn, they are superb. It's to the point where you have to have superhuman hearing to tell the difference. The only reason I give JL the nod is cause decking out a car with all JL speakers is just too sexy.

Just for my own knowledge, are Boston Acoustic speakers that good because they don't require an amp to power them? Would they still hold up to the Kappa speakers being powered by a good amp?

ok, Beatrice is back on JL's jockey..lol.. ... I tell you, I'am a realist when it comes to car audio, and every company has their strengths and weaknesses, especially my beloved Rockford Fosgate.

That said, disagree or not, but there is no components that I've ever heard that can hang with the Boston Acoustic SPZ60! That's why they retail for $1000.00!

After consulting with my local installer, I decided to go with the boston Acoustic Pro 60 components over the Infinity Kappa Perfects!. My Rockford T600-4 amp will be pushing the Pro 60's!

I looked at the specs of the ZR series JL components, and while I can say that they may give the Boston Acoustic Pro 60 a run, they are nothing compared to the SPZ60's!

Oh, and they ALL require amps, even the Boston Acoustics. Any component system worth its weight will require an amp to bring out its full potential... they need power!
