Well, not completely like the title makes it sound, but close. i bought a cheap little $2 car at the resale store and have a few rocket motors left over after a failed attempt to make a small explosives device that i was going to use to blow up a 5 gallon bag of rootbeer syurp for a coke machine. so, i decided to merge the two. this is the progress so far, but i have a long way to go.

Haha, we've launched radio controlled cars in the air that way, the aerodynamics on some of them suck :) You should try an aerotech G class motor, it's even rebuildable, too bad I lost mine, I'd be glad to have put it on your car, 30lbs. of thrust is just about right.

hahaha, 30lbs would be nice. im going to launch it first with 2 C class and 1 D class motor. then 3 C and 2 D class motors. and we're going to film it of course.

if this works out you could try this on roxanne. make some holes in the wangan drift wing to mount the rockets, it'll be just like nitrous.

Have fun making that work. Where are you going to launch this car :D??

You should probaly add some weight, so it doesn't go all out crazy

you think some bondo would hold those on if i molded them to the car?

we're planning on an open parking lot, but i gotta be careful since i know im going to be breaking a few laws. and i have to add some weight to the front cause the back weighs a ton with the rockets.

YOu know how the model rockets have a metal rod for a few feet after the launch pad? You should probaly make one of those for your car.'

ALso, If that car fails miserably, make the next one longer

The show "Mythbusters" strapped a JATO to an old Impala (I think).

Also, tonight's episode of Monster Garage features a Toyota Celica jet car!

hehe, im sure it will be ok since its not one rocket on the end of a tube, but we'll see when we test it. i have ball bearings im using for the wheels, and some small model wheels from CO2 cars.

Are these the rockets that have the parachute charge at the end?

nope, i made sure i got single stage rockets. one long burn and thats it. i was going to do two runs: 1st with a few rockets all at once, 2nd with a two stage setup. the Cs would fire first and then i'd fire the Ds at a later time.

I'd drive a rocket car, sounds fun. If I lived near Bonneville i would have died long ago on some bizarre contraption.

Yeah, the KA-T and SR20DET are so last week. I'm saving up my money to swap a solid fuel rocket booster in to my S13. ;)

Actually, I'm pretty interested in how the Monster Garage jet car is going to turn out.

The guys from Mythbusters found a former rocket scientist who just happened to own a large dry lake bed somewhere in Nevada. It kicked *** to see the gigantic cloud of dust that rocket powered Impala made.

That car wasnt a Chevy. In the myth it was a 67 Impala, but they used an old busted *** Ford Thunderbird. That thing had hydros on it!

Ah, that's right. They couldn't find a suitable Impala.

I only half remember that episode. I saw it on New Years Day during the marathon, and I was sick as a dog with the stomach flu.

I *do* remember the old scientist guy being concerned that the rocket car would fly off course and tear up his lake bed. :D

The other Mythbusters automotive project that I can remember is stuffing a pig carcass in a Corvette and then leaving it in a shipping container for several weeks!
