This weekend, I went to San Diego for a family vacation, and while out there, i picked up the newest addition to the NICO family:

1993 240sx Special Edition convertible.

Black, bone stock, 120K miles, one of VERY FEW factory leather convertibles, in great shape. I am the third owner, and the car was bought new in SoCal and spent its whole life there.

I'll be bringing it back to "as new" condition gradually... It doesn't need much - Body and paint are nearly perfect, it was obviously garaged. Needs some leather repair, a new rear window, door panels repaired, and some little cosmetic issues to be perfect....It'll be a toy, basically for me and NICOmom to drive whenever we feel like it.

Drove it back from SD in the heat of the day today (well over 100 degrees) with NO problems... Ran it at 110mph for nearly an hour with no ill effects. Got 300 miles out of a full tank (is that good?).

I'll take some pics later this week and post them up.

I'll be spending A LOT of time in the 240 forums now, asking dumb questions and learning all I can.

I just ordered the 'vert manual, now I need an S13 FSM - Any ideas?

i would say 300 miles out of a full tank is good, that is about what i get outa my 82 SE coupe

congrats on the find. there are lots of places you can download the FSM. although i dont' have the links anymore because i downloaded mine along time ago (even before i had the car, lol)

110mph for about an hour in that heat? was that with the top up or down? air conditioning on? well either way id say 300miles to a tank is good at those speeds with air on/ top down. i can get 400 miles on a tank with "daily driving"

i also downloaded the manual and cant remember where, but im not even sure if its the REAl fsm or one of the other ones.

they have a stock S13 manual from a '92. It should work for the '94 as well The wiring should be the same from 91-94

time to gut interior, install 8 point roll cage, sr swap, s13 silvia front end, 50mm overfenders, 18x10 front 19x12 rear with a full aero kit of course. I'm thinking BN Sports or URAS or one of the ULTRA LOW kits. You're not low until you scrape over road turtles.

maximum awesome.

Ryan forgets - I was driving a 450-hp manual trans car before he was born. :rockon

Manual MIGHT be in the cards, that'll come AFTER I turbo (and blow up) the KA... :)

^ Weak.

Man, if you're gonna make OLD jokes, at least make them amusing!!!

Anyway, springs / shocks are on the way, and the gunmetal 18's are in the garage waiting to be mounted up... Might ditch the tires or swap for some fatter ones. 215/35/18 is too small for me, need to go 235....

Gonna spend a few weekends dismantling / changing fluids / detailing / touching up... Gotta get ready for the Convention!!!

p.s. Need a lead on a bigger radiator - Needs to be CHEAP! :)

the S14 rad is larger than the S13, and you can get them fairly cheap now. It's not Koyo big, but it's easily thicker than the S13.

What suspension combo you'd go with?

S14 rad will fit? Cool. Don't NEED Koyo, so S14 is good.

Same suspension package as yours. :)

I've been doing a few SR swaps with one of my friends, and he's been slapping S14 rads in. You'll need to modify the lower bracket a bit to accept the S13 aux fan. The s14 is slightly different, and I don't know if it wires in since it has a variable speed motor where as the S13 fan is one speed. But the S14 radiator sits right in where the S13 goes. The only other thing you'll have to make if you go that route is the upper supports. The S14 places them near the edges of the radiator, where the S13 has them nearer the middle.

Hmmm. So it's not a drop-in deal.

I'll pull it all apart this weekend and see if it's just clogged / funky OR obstructed fins / condenser... Gonna do a new t-stat, flush / fill, pressure clean condensor, steam clean the engine and undercarriage, and do whatever else I think of...

isn't one of the wheels BROKEN!?

andand... i can't believe you put 215/35/18 on that wheel. you sad little man.

the wheel can't be any bigger than a 18x7.5.. you won't be able to fit much more than a 225/45 or 235/40 on it.
