Im coming off a long run of strict Audi/VW ownerships (pics below) About 7 years of dubs and easily over 14 cars. From crazy all motor high compression 3Lither VR6, to built 2L 8V gti to audi wagons to 16V Rabbits and 1.8L Supercharged Rabbits...

2nd day of ownership and im sooo thrilled with this car. It drives like a dream. Somewhat slow off the line, but really who cares about that kinda s***. Plenty of room and tons of fun. I was worried asbout not havig that nice german interior feel, but the japanese certianly havent let me down.

Drove out to Lancaster(from South Orange County) lastnight, hung with the peeps and had tons o fun. Got just about 320 to the tank so far and i bet i have another 40 or so miles before its empty.

Didnt have my tri-pod so shots are limited and noisy.

But my people's: (sorry about the crappiness of the pics...)

and finally hopefully a hint of what to come.

Where I came from:Current Car:

Fully re-worked 1995 Cabrio w/ euro bumpers w/ custom plate recess in rear, 2000 Cabrio Interior, 2000 Cabrio Trunk, OBDII 2.8L VR6 Engine, Corrado Transmission w/ LSD.more pics here:http://www.betacreate.com/cabrio/

the other car: 05 GLI. Just suspension, exhaust, intake and wheels.

more pics here:http://www.betacreate.com/Jlines

the recently sold car (and dearly missed) 04 2.8L 24V GTI full euro recaro interior, SEAT Ibiza Cupra R steering wheel, shift knob and ebrake. Coils, colormatched valences, intake and exhaust. My favorite part - 3-Piece Tracer Tech 2 17x9 (front) 17x10 (rear)

All very hot, and nicely done. Welcome to NICO, and I think you'll find the Q to be quite the love affair.

One of my roommates LOVES Volkswagons - has an '84 Rabbit GTI and is looking at a '96 Golf GTI.

i definately love the VW's. It's just time for something completely different. As soon as I have the space im buying a 75-78 Rabbit and building it retardedly.

thank you on the compliments. Im currently sourcing airbags or coilovers and some wheels.

In order not to clutter the forum with silly newb questions i'll ask a few here:

What transmission fluid would you guys suggest?

Redline ATF?

Is there something better?

thanks again guys!

Hey Louis glad to see you made it over here!

Regarding the slow off the line comment, I just don't get it. My Q feels like it jumps off the line when I punch it (often), I've yet to get smoked. It could be time for spark plugs and synthetic oil. I use Amsoil or Redline, but I prefer Amsoil. I have Redline ATF in the transmission.

I think you'll find just about every answer you'll need that's Q related on here.

Thats because you used to have a civic

I feel the same way about mine. After she gets going a little bit, it's ok.

Agreed. The first 35mph go by kinda slow, but things get hot after that. I love driving around town in first.

Nah, it's nothing to do with having a Civic. For one, I had the much desired, and on the top-ten stolen cars list for years, 99-00 Si, with many mods done to it, so it was quick. The Q, at least mine, has never lost a stop light race, so it's based on 20 months of ownership and driving I did get smoked on the Fwy by an E55 though.

Maybe you guys need a tune up If I was loosing all the time, or struggling to keep up with other cars, then maybe I could see it, but as I said, I'm always first. Even in a straight up race against a NICO owned G50.

maybe im just used to lighter weight vw's with worked VR6 engines

Its no slouch, but you can definatley feel the weight.

Since I work for MagnaFlow, a Custom exhaust might be in order soon. keep noise levels down and let it breath better.

You work for Magnaflow! They're my favorite, and what I want for my Q. I was looking at PN 14379, shoot me an email if you don't mind with your suggestions and where I should get it from. Thx, [email protected]

Welcome to NICO, glad to see more FY33 owners, and we seem to be growing in the Cali area as well. That should lead to a little more growth in what can be done, as the Cali crowd alwyas seems to push "what's possible".

Thanks for the pics of your other cars, I've always liked VW's and for the longest time wanted a VR6 Corrado, but could never find one, when I was in "buy mode". As for projects, I'd love to see someone build and all out GTI-type beast out of one of those old VW trucks from the 80's.

Falk your numbers are growing .

Welcome to NICO. You have some skills with that camera. I love the garage pics of the GTI.

My first ride was an 86 Vanagon. And like Rex, I have craved a Corrado...
