Newer Pathfinder opinions

How many of you have moved on from an R50 to a newer Pathfinder? I'm considering a newer 3rd Gen Pathfinder (2010-2012), or a Frontier (roughly 2010-2016). What are your thoughts? Pros/Cons?

The R51's are pretty bulletproof except for the well-known problems with the timing chains, timing cover gaskets, transmission cooler intermix, and crumbly heater water manifold. If you find an '11~12 the timing chains and cooler were both fixed already. The D40 Frontiers with VQ40 engines were a subset of the R51 design, so if you stick to '11-up it's the same deal.

Nothing wrong with that, the N50 is just another derivative with the same hardware.

And why are so many of them red?

I honestly don't know. The sapphire blue ones are plain gorgeous, but I think I've only ever seen two of them. You're right, the red ones are all over the place.
