Anyone do it or know if it can be done? Yeh, I know this should go in the Audio forum, but I'm not sure if many G50 owners spend time there.

Thanks for the help.Paul

Yes, it can but the sensors and what not will be the hardest part. Converting the audio out on the new Navi will be easy to match up with the older bose.

But the GPS and crap thats tied in with the cars speed etc...would be rather hard.-

You could just bypass that.... vehicles speed is determined by the GPS not by using vehicle speed.....

The possibility is close to zero. You would have take all the NAV buttons from the donor car and put them on your car too. That's why this Pioneer AVIC-D1 is a perfect alternative, especially with a $300 mail-in rebate from Pioneer expired on 12/31/2005. I had the unit now and will install it during the winter break.

Did you mean Dec 13th? or that it expires on the 31st?

Shouldn't this unit be like any other "aftermarket" navi system? Installwise.

Good for you my man. I've been looking at the exact one. I like the 2 disc slots behind the face. It would be awesome if the second slot would play DVDs instead of JUST the DVD ROM navi disk but it doesn't have that feature.

Let us know how it turns out.

I knew there are several units that can use the Bose speakers and fit right into the G30 and FY33. I was out at an audio shop and they had several nice alternatives. This is way easier than going with a Nissan one.

What does the Pioneer unit go for?

Many older Nav units, especially OEM units use a speed VSS orVehicle Speed sense wire to make the GPS more acurate. Most old systems won't work without it. The Pioneer units however will. But that information is available and should be doable. The big question would be WHY? When there are so many better aftermarket solutions available that blow away the factory crap....just my $.02

Thanks for the input. Had just seen a Nissan unit on Ebay and wondered if it would work. The Pioneer unit looks good, just wish it played DVDs.Paul

The rebate will expire on Dec 31st, means there still be about 2 weeks left. Installation should be a breeze, just like other aftermarket headunits, just need to tap into VSS wire, back-up light (for rear view camera), and make a switch to stimulate the parking brake. No DVD-playback is a minus but we can always buy an external DVD player for about $100 (I think). One of the reasons that I picked this one because of the XM NavTraffic.

I definitely will let you guys know how it works.
