its all really about what you want.

personally, i didnt want to have to deal with having to rebuilt my KA. So i went CA. it was an engine that was turboed stock so i know for sure it can handle boost. id say the ka when boosted would have much more torque especially the KAE

I still like to think of my CA as a mini RB heheh

You can boost the KA and it might last forever, or it could last a day.Same goes for the CA. If you can get one locally, check it over very carefully. You can buy a bad one for the same price as a good one. It's the luck of the draw. Either engine will need to be "freshend up" in order to be reliable. Ask yourself which route you want to go- JDM or USDM ? or do you just want whatever gives you more power. It is the same hassle w/ the harness & power steering w/ both swaps.Good luck!

i would realy think about it if i wasnt in germany right nowthats the main reason im thinking about the ca because thats what the german version has and the show up wrecked in the junk yards every so often

but what i rely want is the more powerbut would like to do it as afforable as possible and i just figure that the ka will cost morei figure i want about 300-350 hp and from what ive seen here the ca can do itplus the ca has to be a little more rare once i get back to the great u.s. of a

i figure that 300 should be easy enough to live with every day and still be able to track also

300 sounds like a good # to me

You can throw down those #'s with a T28 or T3 on your boosted CA.Just make sure to replace all the essentials, other wise the 300 hp. won't last. Good Luck!

All gaskets, hoses, and Belts (Well, the CA has a timing belt, the KA has a chain). Most CA18's have around 50-70k miles on them. It may be hard to find a KA with the same milege. The KA has higher compression being a factory NA engine, but also has 260cc injectors. Upgrade injectors & fuel pump are a must. The CA has 370cc & can withstand 13lbs. of boost. Due to the lack of displacment the CA will need more tuning than the KA to reach your #'s. But it is possible...

Any turbo w/ a T25-T28 flange will bolt up to the stock manifold. The Garrett GT-series (Disco Potato- GT28RS) are a popular choice, as are the SR turbos. You don't need to buy head studs as a nessecity, rather than for reliability. The factory ones are fine until you hit big #'s. Why do you want to shave down the head? to lower compression? this can be accomplished w/ a Grex or Tomei metal headgasket. Choose your size @ TakaKaira.comMUCH less work than machining! Good Luck!

sorry for jacking this thread in advance. but heres a quick question. since the ca18 has lower compression, does this mean that it will get better mileage than the ka24?
