Car: 1998 Nissan Maxima SE

Post

Just wanted to say hello from Charleston, WV. Me and my better half are purchasing and picking up a '98 Maxima SE with 109K miles this Friday. The car has been garage kept and is a manual (which I understand is pretty rare). Anyway, the owner recently had new axle shafts and CV joints/boots installed and has always kept up on the maintenance (he says :chuckle: ). The car is immaculate and is mint for a '98. I realize it has a timing chain, so I dont need to do the timing belt thing. However, since this is my first Max, can you all indulge me in what maintenance I should do right off the bat other than a fresh oil change? Any info on recommended maintenance would greatly be appreciated. And, if I take care of this car, what mileage can I expect out of it? Thanks for any and all help you all can give us :)

Change the oil and check all the fluids. I would also take it in and have it checked out at a shop so they can point out any thing that is in need of replacement.

On that note, I miss my 98 SE 5spd and hope to live vicariously through yours! Welcome!!

Car: 2004 Nissan Maxima SL

Post

Hey! I'm a newbie also :) I'm really glad that I fould this site. I own a 2004 Maxima SL that I modified with Cattman Headers, High Flow Cat, Hi flow resonator, CatBack, NWP Spacers, UR lightweight flywheel, and an AFE Pro Dry performance air filter, and finally a Technosquare ECU upgrade. My issue is that after installing my headers, my SES light has been on since March 2008 with either rich or lean codes on either bank one or two among other issues including the EGR valve. I have attempted to resolve the problems with numerous shops to no avail by finding the code(s) and fixing the issues, but the problems (SES light) still persist. Thankfully, searching through your forum, I found a post where a member listed a friends shop in Tennessee where customer can send their ECU's in for repair much like i did with Technosquare before Tadashi resigned. Once he left I was stuck. I know I'm all over the place with this post but thanks to NICOclub and to whomever posted the link to: http://www.autovaughnperformance.com/in ... &Itemid=73
it will help me much. Glad to be here!
