Whats up people?

Ive been browsing your site for a bit when i was looking for a QX4. Now that i got one, im happy that im part of the Qx4 Community!

By the way its a 1997 QX4 Blk and i love it!!!

Anyways, I have one question.....so far

I was thinking of upgrading the bose system, but has anyone ever thought of installing a system where the temp controls are?

it seems possible isnt it the same size ( din )?

then i could move the temp controls down, install a din pocket adaptor with the temp controls and have my cd player higher up?

if anyone has done this is there any pics of it?

the temp controls are definitely larger than single din, but smaller than double din. Possibly Din and a half (they do make those) I think it would be kinda weird to have a single din in the heater control spot, with black plastic trim to make it fit, and then a din and a half heater control in the lower double din location, again with black plastic trim to make it fit But its all up to you. If the wires from the heater control reach the lower location, then i'd say its definitely possible - and it's a novel idea too! I'd like to install a flip-up TV in that upper spot! Heres my interior of my 99

Welcome to the QX4 pimpin club, and welcome to Nico!

HaHa! Anything to post the pic of the steering wheel!

But yeah, let us know if you can do it. I'd love a pop-up DVD player in that spot too! It'd be much better place to put a Nav system in.

I have thought of this over and over. It is slightly bigger but therea re trim ings in different gauges that you can purchase from any stereo reseller. I don't know bout the length of the wires on the ac controls though.

I am digging the steering wheel fueler..........almost as much as that avatar u had. Also, what is the deal with the Nitrous button?

It's for the antenna. That particular pioneer deck would always have the antenna up even if i'm listening to mp3's off my usb thumb drive, or even CD's. So I put a radio shack pushbutton on/off switch so I can have the antenna out of sight on the freeway. I plan on replacing it with the OEM Nissan rocker switch, which I finally got a part # for.

That's what that buttons for!

Y'know, looking at your rig, it looks like you could move the temp controls to where the stereo is and vice-versa. Be a real nice place for a pop-out dvd/nav system.

Of course, then your vents get blocked and in SoCal, black cars are always hot.

Yup. Its crazy how even the Bose pulls down the antenna when you're listening to a CD. I don't know why Pioneer didn't do it for this model. They just used the amp remote wire and split it into 2 - 1 for amp remote and 1 for antenna! So the antenna was up whenever the deck was on - regardless of music source. They probably did it to save money.
