Car: 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Just bought a 2001 Pathfinder, my other was a 1991, totalled it.
I know this is stupid, but how do you get the air filter box open? I released the two small clips, a little vent thing slid open half inch, I can see the filter... but I can't get the box open to replace the filter. I know its something simple. but its beyond me.
Anyone ever put a Walker DynoMax turbo muffler on one of these?
