Hey there.. I'm currently running a 04 Mustang GT & 05 SRT-4.. I'm looking to completely "shift gears" and get into something different.. I've been looking at a 05 G35 with approx 34,000 miles on it.. I have not test driven a G35 yet but would like to know what I should expect to look for in the car?? Also are there known issues with 03/04 G35's??? Seems to be a lot of these on the market??

Thanks! Oh I'm looking at a Manual if that matters..

Another question I have is.. What options are there for turbo or supercharger upgrades?? Would something that is built for the 350 2003-2008 work on this car?? ie. Vortech kit..

http://www.vortechsupercharger...p=117

Thanks again.

Welcome to NICO!

The problems with the 03-04 G35s are small, mostly the OEM stereo head deck. Search the site for more info.

The car didn't change much from 03-06. I would recommend a test drive to see what all the buzz is about. Just remember that this isn't a pocket rocket and will feel slower than your SRT-4. But, its comfortable and handles like its on rails. Stock, it's probably as fast as the mustang and with some mods can be faster than the SRT-4.

Check out our G-Series FAQ (link in my sig) for more info.

The G35 and 350Z are like the camaro and firebird...they share many of the same parts and almost the same drivetrain.

Again, check out the FAQ for supercharger/turbocharger info.

- 10k you get twin turbos installed- 7k will get you a single turbo-5-6k for a vortech SC (centrifugal-type) - 3-4k for a Stillen SC (roots-type)

Cool thanks a lot.. I'm very familiar with a centri as that's what I have on my Mustang and of course the SRT is turbo'd.. Roots type on these cars might be a lot of fun.. I'll check out the links and find one to drive..

Thanks a lot!

You should expect to fall in love with the way it handles!!! And it's looks too!Big difference over a mustang. Easier to handle and more comfy!Lots of ex-mustang owners and current mustang owners here too.A few mustang haters here too... Getting smoked by a stang will do that to them! ....

Let us know what you think!

Oh, and post up pics of your current rides!!! We love pics!!!

Those prices are not the prices for doing it 100% correctly. You can buy the kits for doing that work for those prices. But you will also need to upgrade to a higher lph fuel pump, bigger injectors and fuel rails. You'll need a piggy back fuel management system and a tune, as well as a wideband and EGT, boost, and oil pressure/temp gauges.

I think the G is an awesome car, with a lot of potential. It isn't the cheapest car around to make forced induction though.

So that you know, no naturally aspirated stang, GT or not, has smoked me so far---none, and never will. I only got barely smoked once by an SRT-4 and it was by a hair, as his car was giving it everything he had as would be expected from a turbo. I had no idea on that day what an SRT-4 was, and whther the car was an SRT-4. And, all this was before i switched to using Royal Purple oil and test pipes (down pipes). If I had that same dodge Neon SRT- 4 today, i would have it for dinner. And, if I replace my flywheel to lighter weight flywheel and replace my pulleys with light weight pulleys, as hopefuly, I might do, it won't even be close with many cars. And then, i fi decide to replace the exhaust manifold as well, (strupp Headers), thats another 10 horses right there.

I will give you an example: 2 days ago, an M-45 Infiniti, V-8 with 325 horses, was behind me following me closely, when i suddenly decided to take-off. He did the same as well--he was right behind me. I took off in 5th gear and yet he could not catch up and pass me in my g-35 with a v-6. If I had downshifted to 4th gear, i could easily have widened the gap much more quickly and at least three car lengths. I was barely playing with the guy when all this happened, and I laughed my a$$ off.

I have no doubt that installing light weight pulleys will definitely allow my car to pull away much faster with mush faster revs, and we haven't even begun to talk about forced induction yet.

And if you really wanna see the G-35 coupe perform, take it to the twisties. This is where it is king. It loves to hug the road. And it will make moves on twisties that will scare you first before the car ever looses its cool or control.
