First off, periods are your friend, use them.I believe you will need a new ECU (somebody correct me if i am wrong). Having JWT redo your ECU will not solve this problem. Your best bet is to hit up the junkyards, as a new ECU will cost you an arm and a leg. EDIT: However all this might be irrelevant, as your 97 ECU should hook right up to the 95 KA, i dont believe there is any difference between the motors. Sorry i didnt read your post right the first time.

There is no difference in the two years of engine..well not enough to make it where you can't throw in that 95 w/o a hitch anyway. The motor will work just fine.

JWT can not tune the 97 and 98 ECU's. To use a 95-96 ECU, you have to make some modifications to the wiring (moslty switching wires) to make it work. The 96 ECU only requires a small change. But, the 95-96 ECU also uses a different rear O2 sensor with 4 wires (97-86 uses a 3-wire O2), so an extra wire needs to be added and you need an adapter or the cat w/pipe from a 95 or 95 since the O2 sesor bung is smaller. Call JWT for more details. They have this documented pretty well.

Just swap intake and exhaust manifolds when you do the swap and it won't be a problem.

Actually, now that I reread this, if you are swapping only the motor, there should be no problems. I would imagine most if not all the sensors and inputs would plug right in to the existing harness. And if something doesn't just remove it from the other motor and swap the parts. I thought this had to do with just swapping the ECU.

I'm swapping entire engine but I wasnt sure if I could use my 97 ecu with the 95 engine so I'm in the process of getting a 95 ecu to send off to JWT for reprogramming

If you have the option, you may want to go with a 96 ECU instead. Both will work, but the 96 is easier to wire up according to JWT.
