Have had my Versa now for about 14 months.....but wow all the problems!I had a 92 Sentra that lasted almost 10 years.....great car, so I went back for a Nissan when I decided to buy a new car.

My Versa is back in the shop for the 4th time in the past 2 months. So far they have replaced the fuel pump, and an emissions control module....all under warranty. Today its back in the hospital because the service engine light is on (Again).

Is anyone having any such problems, or know of anyone with a Versa that has been having these kind of issues, and have they been resolved or have they continued??

I was totally thrilled with my Versa until it stranded me on Thanksgiving Day!

How did they determine the emissions control module required replacement? Were there physical symptoms?

Interesting... it seems this isn't the first case of fuel-pump-itis, and with multiple trips... but I swear, my car has been 100% trouble-free for 25,000 miles and one year. I guess sometimes you hit one, sometimes you miss....

FWIW, our Sentra...which replaced the month old Versa that could not track straight...developed a noise that sounded as if something was rubbing on the front left tire during a left turn lean.

Four months old...8K miles; Nissan said it is the WHEEL BEARING. This is the first time I have ever had a car that needed a new wheel bearing (and a few had in excess of 100k..such as the 2004 Honda we traded for the Versa) ....never mind one at 8K miles. They had to order the part...so we are still waiting for repair.

Fortunately, this may be an anomaly, as I can't seem to find any complaints on the Sentra in this respect...or too many others. However...given all of the issues on this forum alone with the Versa....and, our problem with our Versa...and now the Sentra wheel bearing, the warm and fuzzy Nissan glow we had from our much loved Infiniti FX has dissipated...completely.

Interestingly enough, the "tracking straight" issue is apparently a big problem on an untold number of Honda CRV's...and they have differential problems as well.

Apparently, paying a premium for previously reliable Japanese cars no longer makes any sense...probably because they are no longer truly "Japanese".

Well Andrews, the most obvious symptom was the car stopped running while driving.....at about 55 MPH the engine stalled and the car would not start....on Thanksgiving day no less!!

This being the reason for 3 trips back to the dealer for the same issue....also the computer wasn't recongnizing any codes that anything was going wrong.....so when they did the diagnostic on the car they had no idea what the problem was...there were no codes!! So basically they started guessing.....lets try the fuel pump. 8 days later the same thing happened.....stalled while doing about 65 MPH on the interstate. It went back to the dealer where it spent 16 days being toiled over and eventually they had to contact the engineers at Nissan to get an idea of what to look at or where to begin.....still getting no codes to go by. So the engineers told them to swap out the ECM. It went back again for a leak in the fuel line that they screwed up when they replaced the fuel pump.

I just got my car back for the most recent event. the car didn't stall and die on me, or leave me stranded like it had previously, but the service engine light came on.....something it wasn't doing before when it was dying on me!The code informed them the car was running lean, which sent them tracing it back to clogged fuel injectors. $130.00 later for a fuel system maintenance, I have my car back.

I really hope this doesn't continue....I was hoping to find someone having similar problems so I could see if it was a more widespread issue with this Nissan model....the mechanics certainly had no idea what to do with the car and got the engineers involved.

I have never had so many problems with a new car (or a used one for that matter)....I love the car for the most part....especially getting better gas mileage than my previous 6 cylinder cars....but very dissappointed in Nissan for what they put into this model at least. Needless to say, I don't think I will have this car for 162,000 miles like I did my 1992 Sentra.

Look into the lemon laws in your state. The same issue multiple times may make you eligible for compensation.

In the contest for Versa problems, my SL lasted less than 3 days before it broke. Worse still, it was the odometer reset so they had to replace the whole speedo unit. Dealer said no need to tell the state about odo rollback saying it was no problem. Great, 500 miles before having a CarFax report. Be very careful before you buy!

If you want to play the 1-up game, the clutch on V#1 started slipping badly less than 24 hours after I drove it off the lot...

Oh, ya? Well . . . they didn't unhook my block heater cord.

Well, I'll tell you. I marched right in there and . . . well . . . they smiled at me and said "no problem" and did it immediately.

Hmmm . . . guess it doesn't compare.
