Hello Board! My name is Dave and I will try to make a long story a short question. I have replaced the 1991 Maxima VG30 engine with another VG30 of the same year. I have never driven this car because I bought it with a blown Timing Belt. I heard it was running poorly before it blew the belt. I have it all put together but find there is no pulse power going to the sub harness for injectors 2,4 and 6. I tested the engine side of the connection with the car running on the other 3 cylinders and there is 1 pin with constant power but no power to the other 2. Odd there is 4 pins but 3 wires on this engine side plug. I have a Chilton but the earliest FSM I can find is 94. When I look at the Chilton as well as the 94 FSM wiring diagrams it looks like there should be 4 wires. existing condition has 1 of the wires coming from that plug spliced into a green white wire that heads up to the AAC harness and the other 2 dive into the main wiring harness heading back to the ECCS I guess. can anybody point me in a direction to troubleshoot from here? I tried the Maxima forum but they won't talk to you until you have 15 posts. :gotme A little help guys?!? Thanks.

Hello guys, I figured if I got a few pictures on maybe I'll get some help. I have no pulse power going to the 2,4 and 6 injectors on this Gen3 1991 Maxima. Ive heard it never had much power before the timing belt blew and this is probably the culprit. I replaced the engine and installed new timing belt on the replacement. Looking at this set-up and it doesn't jive with the wiring diagram but being "Not a mechanic" I thought maybe you guys who know these cars might be able to help. Here is the harness that comes out of the Main Wiring Harness: Image

It, as you can see, has only 3 wires. A red plug in # 4 which, if my deductions are correct, is supposed to feed injector #6.
1 of the pins has constant 12v current when the key is on and heads up into the main harness. Another one splices into the AAC harness here:

Coming out of the main harness in the same group as the 2 other FI wires is this wire that splices into the transmission harness wiring with the same small brass crimp splice.

It splices into the harness that feeds this jacketed AT wire harness.

So, it looks pretty weird. A couple questions come to my "not a mechanic" mind.

1) should the plug on the main harness side have 4 wires going into it? In my mind...reading the wiring diagram, there should be 1 for each injector for the pulse signal and 1 for the power.

2) dumb question probably but...did Nissan ever splice like this or is this another backyard mechanic like me. :o. Doing his best to make it work?

3) where do I go from here to get the power to the injectors in the right firing order?!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Tough question. There aren't many people still around that had the 3rd gens. And unfortunately, wiring is not my strong suit.

My suggestion would be to compare the non working harness with the side that works.

I'll message another mod who has some 3rd gen experience and see if he has any input.

I figured it out!!! I had thought no 2 plugs were alike when I was disassembling. WRONG. The 4 pin for the FI is short leashed with an 8 pin. There is ANOTHER. 4 pin short leashed with an 8 pin that's nearby at the transmission!!! Yah, I was shifting the injectors and pulse powering the transmission!! Runs great now but still getting the 51 code for fuel injection and the idle won't go below 1200 even with the idle screw bottomed out. More to do but it sure runs a ton better!!! Hahaha. 16 degrees this morning and this cancer crap has me a bit slow today. May get out there yet and do some troubleshooting. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE REPLY!!!!!
