Thanks.
Someday, down the road... I plan on grabbing an extra 3.5 rebuilding it with a single of twins mind. Packaging is so tight though.
So, what are the inherent weaknesses of the 3.5 Datsun motor?
How much can the stock assy handle?
Pistons/Ring?
Rod/Rod Bolt?
Bearing Journal - Width & Dia?
Crankshaft, Width & Dia? Radius? It must have a little strength to twist a supercharger on the wrong end for power output.
The heads have a bunch a shared bolts. no extras.
The block? Bore, liners, Caps?
Just curious, the car is great. I'd not want to diminish its drivability but, making it more capable would be fantastic!
Of course the drivetrain will its share of work as well.
302 Ford block can make 600 +/- hp then splits in half and becomes a pair or fours.
350 Chevy can make about 1k before the mains rip out and it throws the crank on the ground.
Thinking aloud, if I can build a 500 inch N/A engine with a carb and basic ignition. Surely, a 214 inch engine with electronics and F/I should be able to make 400 hp. Figure in 25% losses though the drivetrain it's still a solid 300+ to all four tires. 400 should be easy. 3.5 making just under 100 hp per liter n/a. Add 2 bar above absolute and it should be capable of a 75% + increase.
Again, newbie here just thinking aloud...
Peace!
