Hey, I'm sure you guys hate newbies, but here I am to nag you. I currently have a '95 Integra GS-R, its decent, but I got it as my first car cuz I didn't want to start out with a RWD turbo car and crash it and possibly killing myself with my 16 year old dumbness. Anyway, I'm now in the market for what I originally wanted, an SR powered 240SX. I've been researching SR's and 240SX's on and off for a couple years, and I have been thinking about actually buying one in the past couple months. I came across an '89 on Ebay for $6,200. That auction has mysteriously vanished now, and I really wanted it. Anyway, my friend will give me $8K for my car, which I hope is enough to buy an already swapped 89-1992 240SX. I want to buy one already swapped because there aren't many (if any) shops near me that know anything about this swap (I go to MSU in Michigan). Does anyone know of any cars somewhat close by that I could pick up, or any good shipping companies to get it to me? Do you know of any good places to start looking? Thanks for the help, and if you can think of any tips to give me, that would be great.

-Andrew

uhhh.....

You dont see 240's with SR20det's for sale too often 1....

Buy a car, motor, and drive to Iowa Afterdark tuning, and get a motor swap will be your best option.

They are very very rare, though I got mine with the SR already in the 1990 fb for $5500 and thats probably the highest id go for it. Ebay and forums like these are the only real marketplace to find SR powered 240SX's. So you can keep checking here but Id personally suggest getting a KA and the popping in an SR later. You should easily be able to get an SR powered S13 for $8000.

That's not a bad deal - just the price of the parts alone is covered, and it looks very nicely done.

I would be very careful about buying a pre-swapped car - you want receipts for EVERYTHING done to the car, contact information on the people who did the swap, etc, in case there IS a problem with the car.

You mention that there's not a lot of shops near you, but you want to buy a car of which has been worked on by complete strangers from a complete stranger (no offense to that particular auction, looks very nice), and you're worried about reliability?

Do the swap yourself - that way, you'll be able to fix what goes wrong. Besides, that's half the fun!

There's a thousand tutorials (I have links if you're interested) with pictures, and countless guys on the forums and otherwise will help you out to the best of their ability.

Any chance you could toss me those links. I'm almost saved up for my SR and I'm collecting as much info as i can. Also does anyone have the instructions on connecting the S14 240SX harness to the S13 redtop harness, what needs to be extended, shortened ,switched and such?

I was going to send the wiring harness out to have it done - I believe Heavy Throttle are the ones who offer the service, it's a 1 week turnaround and $100 or so.

I could do it, but I'm too lazy. :)

I'll send you the links in a second, once I get back from my nicotine time. :)
