I just bought my '94 Q45 yesterday and found this group today. Can anybody recommend someone for performance oriented service in the West Los Angeles area? Am I better off to stick with the dealer, Infinity of Santa Monica? From my reading of the "power" thread I gather that the timing correction is determined by the coolant temp. That reminded me of a guy I met in Costa Mesa who has a turbocharged Alfa 164 with the intercooler plumbed in the air conditioning outlet. Maybe a valve to duct the cold air in front of the radiator at full throttle?Oh, never mind.Anton, the newbie.

I cant recommend a shop right now but I know we have members in SoCal that might be able to help you out.

I went to Santa Monica a couple times when I first bought my Q. They were pleasant and professional, as I'm sure most dealerships are, but way too expensive for me. I went in for the 60k service. Ended up paying about $500, mostly to have the oil and plugs changed, and to perform some "inspections". I didn't get the feeling the techs were *REALLY* competent, though better than the average grease monkey. The parts department personnel could stand to take some classes in customer service, I think. I doubt dealerships are performance oriented at all. You'll need to go to a specialty shop for that. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of mods made specifically for Qs. Just plain economics at work. If you need stock parts you can save a lot of money by going to Scottsdale (http://www.infinitipartsusa.com), but if you can't wait, the Torrance dealership has the most knowledgeable parts staff I've ever seen.
