have '04 g35, just replaced rack and pinion and power steering pump- steering still hard/stiff.....will not straighten after turning corner and turning around a corner takes both hands and some effort. prior to problem, steering was effortless(compared to what it is now) when turning, it is like it is not power assisted, tried turning lock to lock with car running and not.....many,many times......any thoughts? any suggestions? all fluid is replaced and both rack and pump were replaced today- no difference. problem started 4 days ago- wife said steering was hard, checked fluid level, added fluid (low-not empty), wife said it's great, next day- steering is stiff again and fluid was full, checked rack and pump and rack had wet boots and a wet spot near where pressure and return lines were, pump was spotless. changed rack and no change, changed pump......no change.....any help would be appreciated.thanks

probably fluid line is clogged?? or theres a air bubble, try this open the cap of power steering and start the car and start turning it left to right a couple of times, and make sure you add the right fluid it should say on the lid..goodluck

This does sound like a clogged line or more likely air in the system. Here is the procedure to bleed power steering:Raise front on jack stands. Turn key to unlock steering wheel but do not start car.Turn to limit both directions 2 - 3 times.Check fluid and fill as necessary.Repeat above steps until the fluid level is full and does not change.Start car and turn to limit both directions 2 - 3 times.Check fluid. Add as necessary.Repeat until fluid level is full and does not change.Turn car engine off.Take the car off jack stands and lower to ground. Assuming you have no leaks the steering rack should have fluid assist for years to come.

if you dont have any air in the system chck to make sure all ball joints and axles are moving freely i dunno if you had an accident but somthing may be keeping the steering from returning somthing could be jamming it up jack the car up and take a look
