I've did some research, and have recently learned that these S13 have a timing chain problem. When would be the most appropriate time to change the chain and what kind of damage would it do to the engine if I delay the project (on a budget) for a little longer. When it's time to replace it, is there a recommended list to go by so that I can order all the parts I need at once?

Abit pricey, but that give you an idea of what you need. A touch more info if you would please. How many miles are on your car?

I would say if the engine sounds ok, you may be able to put it off. If the chain does go however, your engine is toast. The chief problem is the valves slapping the pistons. Hope that helps.
