A couple of really ignorant questions: What is the purpose of the elongated triangular cubbyhole to the right of the dashboard radio panel (and to the left of the glovebox)? On some models, I've seen a power outlet right above it but mine just has a round plug there. Another thing...on some models, the Infiniti logo and the name appear to either be embroidered or painted onto the backs of the front seats. On mine, it's just sort of stamped into the leather but is hardly visible. Was that some sort of option? And finally...what's up with the dipstick? Could they have made it any more difficult to find the hole? Jeez - if you don't have a flashlight handy or if you're not outside with the sun directly overhead, forget it!

I have wondered the same thing... you are talking about the one below the charging port, right? Maybe for a cell phone while it charges?

On my G35, there's no actual port there. I've seen in some pictures on eBay where some of these cars (maybe yours) has an outlet there but on my car it's just a solid plastic piece above the triangular cutout.

I used that cubbyhole as a place to put my work passkeys to get by the parking gates. It wasn't necessarily designed for anything specific as far as I know.

The dipstick is rather poor in it's location and integration with the motor. The dipstick hole also serves as a drain from the head to the crankcase for oil. This means that as you pour oil into the motor, it goes down the same hole essentially coating part of your dipstick with oil. And don't bother leaving it out when you pour oil either. Pouring the oil into the motor at any reasonable rate with the dipstick out may cause oil to actually come out of the dipstick hole.

Thanks for the dipstick insight, C-Kwik. I drove a "loaner" 05 G35 a couple of days ago and noticed that the cubbyhole was done away with. I figured maybe it was something of some use in the Japanese edition of the 35, if there is/was such a thing.

I don't know if I like the dual intake design though...seems like it's going to cost more to mod.

It probably will cost more to mod. But Nissan is doing something right. They pulled out an additional 20 HP or so with what appears to be an even broader torque curve than the rev-up VQ. Getting gains over a large range of RPM's is not an easy task.

I'm actually excited to see turbo kits come out for the new VQ. They can actually build a true dual turbo system dedicating one turbo to each bank of cylinders.

That sounds sweet!

But it will only depress me to know what's out there...it's not like I could afford to dump like 6g's extra into my G.

Hmm...maybe if everyone here chipped in 1 dollar!!
