Hi I'm a new owner of the 2012 Quest. I have some questions for the board.

1. Where is the oil filter? Is it accessed from the top or the bottom of the car? Is it easy to remove simply by reaching it or do I have to learn contortionist movements?

2. It's not playing my Pandora. I thought it had bluetooth. Not sure if this is user error. Any advice?

3. Anyone have any experience with Portable Cargo Organizer? http://www.nissanusa.com/buildyournissa ... ries/index I'm trying to find out if this fits the space underneath the floor board behind the thrid row seating or if it's supposed to be on top of it.

4. How do I access the cabin air filter? Is it easy to replace on my own or do I have to get it done at the dealer. I'm about basic level handy (I can do simple oil and filter change on my own).

5. What is your MPG for 50/50 highway/city driving?

Thank you. I'll contribute information also as I learn more about the car in the future. I hope this is a long and trouble free relationship.

Hi I'm a new owner of the 2012 Quest. I have some questions for the board.

It is located behind the front passenger side wheel well. You can either change it from underneath or if you turn the steering wheel all the way to the left you may do it from the side. There is a wheel splash shield that needs removing( that is held by plastic rivets). I use the latter method.
2. It's not playing my Pandora. I thought it had bluetooth. Not sure if this is user error. Any advice?
Not sure about that. Do you have the technology package ( music box, Bose etc?)
3. Anyone have any experience with Portable Cargo Organizer? http://www.nissanusa.com/buildyournissa ... ries/index I'm trying to find out if this fits the space underneath the floor board behind the thrid row seating or if it's supposed to be on top of it.
I believe it goes in the well.
4. How do I access the cabin air filter? Is it easy to replace on my own or do I have to get it done at the dealer. I'm about basic level handy (I can do simple oil and filter change on my own).
Yes, very easy. Takes 2 minutes to do it. It's a bit tricky to wiggle it in, but the filter is flexible which helps.
5. What is your MPG for 50/50 highway/city driving?
My wife does mostly highway (90%) and she gets 22-23 mpg, but she drives fast 75-80 mph.
Thank you. I'll contribute information also as I learn more about the car in the future. I hope this is a long and trouble free relationship.

Regarding 1. I'm gonna see if I can use an oil extractor. Our last people mover was a Lexus. That car's oil filter was right under the manifold..... can't tell you how many times I burned my wrist. I gave up and took it to a shop.

On 2. I figured out the bluetooth audio thing. It's nice. but I must say I'm highly disapoiinted with the sound. They say it's the top of the line Bose 13 speaker system but they must be 13 speakers with paper cones in there. High distortion and lacks high frquency response. It'll do for now. One of these days, I'll dig up the eixsting speakers and replace them.

On 5. Our first tank was 13.9mpg. :(

Also, the stereo is trying to hook up with the last bluetooth audio (iphone) system that was connected when I get in the car. It doesn't recognize my phone until I manually switch it in the NAV screen. Annoying. Is this normal?

I am answering my own questions.

1. I took the dash apart and found out I have Clarion speakers. It doesn't say it but after checking with a couple of sources, Boses licenses out the name. It's really not Bose stereo you have in our cars. I'm gonna replace these El Cheapo speakers with actual speakers that were designed for human consumption (hearing).

2. The bluetooth radio cuts in and out. It does this whenever it feels like it. annoying. no solutions yet.

5. mpg improved to 17mpg. I'm still trying to figure out who gets 19 mpg.

click on MA or LU oil filter is on the passenger side just forward of the cv driveshalft

you'll need to raise the pass side anyways to get to the oil drain bolt; just make sure you use safety stand in that area & not rely on the jack to keep the vehicle up while you're under there... turning the wheel or taking it off if you need to have more room/leverage to spin the filter on/off is up to you

as for the cabin filter, the online FSM is missing some pdf files, IE the heating-air conditioning section... click on VTL scroll to 18... no diagrams because section HA is missing

PS: if you don't have your owners manual, it's online for free as well

https://owners.nissanusa.com/content/te ... manual.pdf

page 8-10 shows you how to pop off the lastic inner fender panel to access the filter w/ a mere flathead screwdriver
